RAY TEAL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
 
Ray Teal was born on January 12th, 1902 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  He is most well known to many from his role as Sheriff Roy Coffey on the television series, "Bonanza".  His career in entertainment began first as a musician playing the sax in a number of bands locally. 

After high school he went on to study at UCLA and upon earning his degree, he chose to enter an acting profession.  Early on in his career he played minor roles in such films as, "Sweetheart of the Navy" (1937) starring Eric Linden, Cecilia Parker, Eddy Waller, Jason Robards Sr. and Roger Imhof, "Radio Patrol" (1937) starring Grant Withers, Kay Hughes, C. Montague Shaw, Wheeler Oakman, Jack Mulhall, Earle Dwire and Harry Davenport, "Zorro Rides Again" (1937) starring John Carroll, Reed Howes, Richard Alexander, Helen Christian, Nigel De Brulier, Jack Ingram, Tom London, Edmund Cobb, Noah Beery Sr. and Duncan Renaldo and "Give Me a Sailor" (1938) starring Martha Raye, Bob Hope, Betty Grable, Jack Whiting and Clarence Kolb.

Over the course of his career he added over three hundred television and film credits to his resume, although many were un-credited, he did make quite a name for himself as a television actor.

He appeared in numerous television series such as, "The Lone Ranger", "Green Acres", "Cheyenne", "Tales of Wells Fargo", "Wagon Train", "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet", "Where's Raymond?", "Bat Masterson", "Our Miss Brooks", "Telephone Time", "The Adventures of Jim Bowie", "The Frank Sinatra Show", "Men Into Space", "Crossroads", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Lassie", "Bus Stop", "Dennis the Menace", "Twilight Zone", "The Fugitive", "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show", "Perry Mason", "Rawhide", "The Doris Day Show" and his final acting role was in the television movie, "The Hanged Man" (1974) starring Steve Forrest, Cameron Mitchell, Sharon Acker, Will Geer, Barbara Luna and Dean Jagger.

Ray Teal passed away at the age of seventy four on April 2nd, 1976 from natural causes in Santa Monica, California.
