RACHEL MCADAMS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Rachel McAdams was born on November 17th, 1978 in London, Ontario in Canada with the birth name Rachel Anne McAdams, born to Lance and Sandy McAdams. She had two siblings, one sister, Kayleen and a brother named Daniel.
She spent her childhood in St. Thomas, Ontario and at the young age of four she began taking ice skating lessons and competing in competitions. Along with her interest in figure skating she also developed an interest in acting and soon by the age of thirteen she was appearing in a number of Shakespeare productions.
She received her early years education ay Myrtle Street Public School and during the summer for three years she worked at McDonalds. When she attended high school she planned to graduate and pursue a college degree in cultural studies, however a teacher convinced her hat she had a talent for acting so she decided to enroll at New York University in Toronto and earned a degree in drama.
After earning her college degree, McAdams began working as a television and film actress. Some of her earlier credits include, "The Famous Jett Jackson" (1998), "My Name is Tanino" (2002), Perfect Pie" (2002) and the television series "Slings and Arrows" (2003-2005).
Rachel also began appearing in Hollywood films such as, "The Hot Chick" (2002), "Mean Girls" (2004), "The Notebook" (2004), "Wedding Crashers" (2005), "Red Eye" (2005), "Family Stone" (2005).
McAdams took a brief break from acting to focus on her personal life and in 2008 returned to the industry appearing in two films, "The Lucky Ones" (2008), "Married Life" (2008), "State of Play" (2009) and "The Time Traveler's Wife" (2009). .
She has received a number of honors throughout her career as an entertainer. In 2005 she was ranked #14 on the Maxim magazine, "Hot 100 Women" List and in 2006 she was ranked #17 by the same magazine. Also in 2005 she was voted #101 on FHS's list of Sexiest Women in the World. Other magazines of honored her in the same categories.
Rachel McAdams currently resides in Los Angeles and in Ontario sharing a home with her brother. Her most recent appearances include roles in the films, "Morning Glory" (2010), "Midnight in Paris" (2011), a role for which she received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. This role was succeeded by such films as, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" (2011), "The Vow" (2012) and soon to release in 2013, "Passion".
She is a vegetarian and an avid environmentalist who started the website Green is Sexy that raises awareness about environmental issues. She is also involved in a variety of other charitable causes such as appealing for donations during the Canada for Haiti telethon in 2010. She also supports the Sunshine Foundation of Canada and the Alzheimer's Association.
