PENNY EDWARDS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Penny Edwards was born on August 24th, 1928 in Jackson Heights, New York with the birth name Millicent Maxine Edwards. As a young girl she was already showing she had a talent for performing music and by the age of six she was studying dancing.
She first appeared on Broadway as a teenager in "The Ziegfeld Fillies of 1943" followed by variety of musical stage productions. In 1947, Warner Brothers signed her to a contract and made her film debut on, "My Wild Irish Rose" (1947) followed by screen appearances on, "That Hagen Girl" (1947), "Two Guys from Texas" (1948), "Feudin', Fussin' and A-Fightin'" and "Tucson" (1949).
At the height of her career she actually chose to retire and devote herself to religious work, however in 1956 she did return to do some television work and made appearances on such shows as, "Wagon Train" (1957), "Bonanza" (1959) and "Tales of Wells Fargo" (1957). By the mid 1960's she then decided it was time to retire for good from the industry.
Penny Edwards married twice during her lifetime. Her first husband was Ralph H. Winters whom she wed on October 21st, 1951 and they had two children before the marriage ended in divorce no February 7th, 1958. Her second marriage was to Jerry Friedman on December 3rd, 1964 and they had one son, David, before that marriage ended in divorce as well.
Edwards did not remarry for a third time and on August 26th, 1998, two days after her 70th birthday, she passed away from lung cancer in Friendswood, Texas.
