PEGGY ANN GARNER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Peggy Ann Garner was born on February 3rd, 1932 in Canton, Ohio with the middle name Garner, to William H. and Virginia Garner. By the age of six with the encouragement from her mother she began participating in summer stock and later relocated to Los Angeles, California with her mother.
Garner began appearing in films soon after her arrival with roles in, "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" (1945), "Junior Miss" (1945), "Home, Sweet Homicide" (1946), "Thunder in the Valley" (1947) and "Daisy Kenyon" (1947).
Garner then decided at the age of twenty to leave Hollywood after having difficulty making the transition from child actor to working in the industry as an adult. She moved to New York where she began auditioning for Broadway. She also studied acting at the Actor's Studio and added such stage credits to her resume as, "The Man" (1950), "A Royal Family" (1951) and "Home is the Hero" (1954).
In addition to her film and stage work she was able to get cast in a variety of television series such as, "Justice", "Kraft Theater", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Naked City", "Bonanza", "Perry Mason", "The Untouchables" and "The Big Valley". She did make a come back to the film industry with a role in, "A Wedding", in 1978 and her final screen performance was on the television movie, "This Year's Blonde" (1980).
Peggy Ann Garner married three times throughout her lifetime, first to Richard Hayes in 1951 through 1953. She then married Albert Salmi in 1956 and they had one child together, Catherine Ann who sadly at the age of thirty eight passed away from premature heart disease. This marriage came to an end in 1963. Her third husband was Kenyon Foster Brown whom she married in 1964 and yet again another marriage came to an end just four years later. She never re-married and on October 16th, 1984, Garner passed away at the age of fifty two in Woodland Hills, California after suffering from pancreatic cancer.
