PAUL STEWART BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Paul Stewart was born on March 13th, 1908 in New York City, New York with the birth name Paul Sternberg.  He first became interested in acting when he was a teenager after earning a degree from Columbia University he began finding work as a stage actor.
 
In 1931 he made his Broadway debut in a production of, "Two Seconds" and continued performing on stage until he caught the attention of Orson Welles which helped Stewart later become a founding member of the Mercury Theatre as well as of AFTRA.

He began working on the radio and soon broke into the film industry with roles on such features as, "Citizen Kane" (1941) starring Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten, Everett Sloane, Ray Collins and Agnes Moorehead, "Johnny Eager" (1941), "Mr. Lucky" (1943), "Champion" (1949) starring Kirk Douglas, Marilyn Maxwell, Arthur Kennedy, Ruth Roman and Lola Albright, "Illegal Entry" (1949), "Twelve O'Clock High" (1949), "Carbine Williams" (1952) starring James Stewart, Wendell Corey and Jean Hagen, "The Bad and the Beautiful" (1952), "The Joe Louis Story" (1953), "Kiss Me Deadly" (1955) and King Creole" (1957) starring Elvis Presley, Walter Matthau, Carolyn Jones, Vic Morrow, Dolores Hart, Raymond Bailey and Dean Jagger.

In addition to his many film roles he also worked on a number of television series such as, "Climax!", "Inner Sanctum", "Lights Out", "Top Secret", "Suspense", "The Man Who Never Was", "Perry Mason", "Gunsmoke", "It Takes a Thief", "Hawaii Five-O", "Wagon Train", "Remington Steele", "Ironside", "Mannix" and "Cannon".

Some of his final roles were in the films, "Bite the Bullet" (1975), "W.C. Fields and Me" (1976) and "Tempest" (1982).  He married only once to singer and radio actress,  Peg La Centra in 1939 and they remained together until he passed away at the age of seventy seven on February 17th, 1986 in Los Angeles, California after suffering his second heart attack, this time fatal.
