PARLEY BAER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Parley Baer was born on August 5th, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah with the birth name Parley Edward Baer. His entertainment experience stemmed from working in the Circus as a ringmaster for Circus Vargus and Barnum & Bailey. He even created and toured with his own circuses and later found work at a local Utah radio station.
During the late 1940's and 1950's he increased his level of popularity working on the radio becoming quite a busy performer. It did not take long before he broke into working as a television actor adding such credits to his resume as, "Suspense", "Tales of the Texas Rangers", "Dragnet" starring Jack Webb, "The CBS Radio Workshop", "The Six Shooter" starring James Stewart, "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar" and "Father Knows Best".
As his career progressed he mainly focused on television work but did appear in an occasional film here and there, although many of his film roles were un-credited with the exceptions of such films as, "Drango" (1957) starring Jeff Chandler, Ronald Howard, Joanne Dru, Julie London, Donald Crisp, John Lupton, Morris Ankrum, David Stollery, Rex Allen, Chubby Johnson, Barney Phillips and Milburn Stone, "The Young Lions" (1958) starring Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift, Dean Martin, Barbara Rush, May Britt, Hope Lange, Lee Van Cleef and Maximilian Schell, "The FBI Story" (1959) starring alongside James Stewart, Vera Miles, Nick Adams, Larry Pennell, Victor Millan and Murray Hamilton, "Cash McCall" (1960) starring James Garner, Natalie Wood, Dean Jagger, E.G. Marshall, Otto Kruger, Roland Winters and Nina Foch, "The Spiral Road" (1962) starring Rock Hudson, Gena Rowlands, Burl Ives, Reggie Nalder, Philip Abbott and Neva Patterson, "Bedtime Story" (1964) starring Marlon Brando, David Niven, Shirley Jones and Marie Windsor, Walt Disney's "The Ugly Dachshund" (1966) starring Dean Jones, Suzanne Pleshette and Charlie Ruggles and "The Over-the-Hill Gang Rides Again" (1970) also starring Walter Brennan, Fred Astaire, Edgar Buchanan, Andy Devine, Chill Wills, Lana Wood and Burt Mustin .
He appeared in over 150 television series throughout his career as an actor with some of the more well known roles being on, "Bonanza", "Petticoat Junction", "The Lineup", "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet", "Fury", "You Are There", "Trackdown", "Lock Up", "The Man Behind the Badge", "Thriller", "The Real McCoys", "Burke's Law", "Zane Grey Theatre", "The Andy Griffith Show", "Bus Stop", "The Rifleman", "Laramie", "Death Valley Days", "The Lucy Show", "Lassie", "The Loretta Young Show", "Checkmate", "The Bob Cummings Show", "The Public Defender", The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show" and "The Outcasts".
Prior to retiring from the industry in 1996 some of his more recent roles included appearances on the television series, "Make Room for Daddy", "The Jack Benny Program", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Renegade", "Coach" and "Star Trek: Voyager".
In addition to his television and film work he was also the popular voice of Ernie Keebler in all the "Keebler cookie commercials".
Baer married only one time to Ernestine Clarke in 1946 and they had two children and remained married until she passed away in 2000. Two years later he lost his life due to complications from a stroke on November 22nd, 2002 in Los Angeles, California.
