NICK ADAMS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Nick Adams was born on July 10th, 1931 in Nanticke, Pennsylvania with the birth name Nicholas Aloysius Adamschock, born to parents, Peter Adamshock and Catherine Kutz.  He was raised in Garfield, New Jersey.  Nick first became involved in entertaining when he would do impersonations of movie stars such as James Cagney and Marlon Brando.

During High School he was very involved in baseball and was even offered a position with the St. Louis Cardinals, but due to the pay being so low he turned down the offer.  Nick graduated from St. Peter's College

He began acting in New York City as a stage actor with his first production in, "Tom Sawyer" but after struggling to find other work in New York he relocated to California in search of a career as a film actor.

He moved to Beverly Hills, California and found work as a doorman and usher at the Warner Brothers Theater.  His earliest stage work in California was in a comedy titled, "Mr. Big Shot" and also performed at the Mocambo nightclub.  His first film role was in, "Somebody Loves Me" (1952) which then gave him the chance to join the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).  Still a struggling actor, he took a brief break during the Korean War and joined the United States Coast Guard to avoid being drafted into the Army.  He served a total of three years during 1952 through 1955.

After completing his service at the age of twenty three, he returned to Los Angeles, California and after getting a role on the film, "Mr. Roberts" (1955) he was finally offered a contract with Warner Brothers.

He is best known for his role portraying Johnny Yuma on the hit television series, "The Rebel" (1959).  He also received a Oscar nomination for his role in "Twilight of Honor" (1963).  Some of his other film roles were on such features as, "Picnic" (1955), "Our Miss Brooks" (1956), "No Time for Sergeants" (1958) and "Pillow Talk" (1959) and on the television series, "Wanted: Dead or Alive" (1958).  His last known role was in 1968 in "Los Asesinos".

Adams married only once to Carol Nugent on May 11th, 1959 and they had two children, Allyson and Jeb Stuart.  They remained married until he passed away on February 7th, 1968 in Beverly Hills, California from a drug overdose.
