MICHAEL SARRAZIN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Michael Sarrazin was born on May 22nd, 1940 in Québec, Canada with the birth name Jacques Michel Andre Sarrazin. His early education years were difficult as he moved through a total of eight schools and in the end never obtained a degree. He found work at a local theater in Toronto and later decided to relocate to New York and study acting at the Actors Studio in New York.
In time he found work playing small roles on documentaries for the National film board of Canada and it was then that Universal Pictures took notice of him and signed him to an acting contract. He had a couple small roles in film and television before getting cast in the film, "Gunfight in Abilene" (1967) which got his career heading in the right direction.
As his career progressed he was seen on the big screen in such films as, "The Flim-Flam Man" (1967), "A Man called Gannon" (1968), "Journey to Shiloh" (1968) and "The Sweet Ride" (1968), for which he earned a Golden Globe Award for, "best promising newcomer".
Other film credits he added to his resume over time were in, "In Search of Gregory" (1969), "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" (1969), "Sometimes a Great Notion" (1970), "Believe in Me" (1971), "The Pursuit of Happiness" (1971), "Harry in Your Pocket" (1973) and the television movie, "Frankenstein: The True Story" (1973).
Sarrazin did not slow down in his career for a moment. He continued to focus on the film industry appearing yet again on the big screen in such features as, "The Reincarnation of Peter Proud" (1975), "For Pete's Sake" (1974), "The Gumball Rally" (1976), "Caravans" (1978), "The Seduction" (1982), "Fighting Back" (1982), "Keeping Track" (1987), "Mascara" (1987) and a number of Canadian based films, "The Groundstar Conspiracy" (1972), "Double Negative" 91980), "Captive Hearts" (1987) and "The Phone Call" (1989) with his latest role being in, 'The Christmas Choir" (2008).
He never married but was in a long term relationship with actress, Jacqueline Bisset for fourteen years but never married, he did however have one son and one daughter. On April 17th, 2011 he passed away at the age of seventy, in Quebec, Canada after suffering from cancer.
