MIA FARROW BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Mia Farrow was born on February 9th, 1945 in Los Angeles, California with the birth name Maria de Lourdes Villiers-Farrow. Her father, John Farrow was a director and her mother, Maureen O'Sullivan, was an actress. Mia had 6 siblings and they were all raised in Beverly Hills, California.
Her acting career began in 1947 on a short subject film with her mother. Then in 1959 she began working on a number of films, but in very small roles. She was cast in, "Peyton's Place" (1964-1966), a television soap opera playing Allison Mackenzie which first got her some attention. However, it was not until 1968 when she was in the film, "Rosemary's Baby" that critics first began to really take her seriously and she was nominated for a number of awards, such as a Golden Globe Award for the New Star of the Year Actress.
She continued to act on a number of other films such as, "John and Mary" (1969) "See No Evil" (1971), "The Great Gatsby" (1974) and "a Wedding" (1978). In 1982 she was cast in, "A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy" and a number of roles followed written specifically for her by Woody Allen.
A total of thirteen films were made with her and Woody Allen together, some of which were, "Broadway Danny Rose"(1984), "The Purple Rose of Cairo"(1985), "Hannah and Her Sisters" (1986), "Radio Days"(1987), Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) and "Alice" (1990).
During the 90's she continued to work but less frequently as she chose to devote more time to raising her family. She did however appear on, "Widows' Peak" (1994), "Miami Rhapsody" (1995) and "Reckless" (1995).
As her children became older she put her efforts back into her career with some of her latest work being on, "The Omen" (2006), "The Ex" (2007), "Arthur and the Invisibles" (2006) and "Be Kind Rewind" (2008).
Farrow is also very well known for her involvement in humanitarian works as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She also wrote an autobiography, "What Falls Away" (1997). She is still an advocate for children's rights and works to raise funds for children especially in Africa. She has also set up her own website called, miafarrow.org which guises anyone interested in how they too can get involved with Darfur activism.
Mia Farrow has earned a number of awards during her lifetime such as, the France Legion of Arts and Letters Award, the Refugees International McCall-Pierpaoli Humanitarian Award and the Tiannamen Square Award.
Farrow had a brief marriage to Frank Sinatra from 1966 through 1968 and she then married Andre Previn in 1970 and they had six children before divorcing in 1979. She now has a total of fifteen children, three are biological, three were adopted while married to Previn, one biological child with Woody Allen, and two more adopted with him. Then as a single mother she chose to adopt six more children, two of her children have predeceased her due to heart ailments.
