MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Matthew McConaughey was born on November 4th, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas to parents, Mary Kathleen and James Donald McConaughey. His father worked as a gas station attendant and his mother was employed as a substitute teacher. After graduating in 1988 from Longview High School he moved to Australia for a year before returning back to the United States and enrolling at the University of Texas with goals of initially pursuing a career as a lawyer.
After reading a book titled, "The Greatest Salesman in the World" he decided to switch his major from law to film and graduated in 1993 with a degree in Radio-Television-Film. He first began appearing in a number of commercials and small films in Texas and even directed a short film called, "Chicano Chariots" (1992).
Soon he was cast in his break through role in the film, "Dazed and Confused" (1993) followed by roles in such films as, "The Return of the Texan Chainsaw Massacre" (1994), "Lone Star" (1996) and "A Time To Kill" (1996).
Now that he was living in Los Angeles, he was becoming known as one of the hottest young leading male actors. Other successful film roles soon followed such as, "Contact" (1997), "Amistad" (1997), "The Newton Boys " (1998), "U-571" (2000), "The Wedding Planner" (2001), "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" (2003) and "Reign of Fire" (2002).
He also got a chance to work on the other side if the industry in Hollywood when he wrote, directed and starred in a short film titled, "The Rebel" (1998). He also started a production company called, J.K. Livin which works on a number of projects in collaboration with Warner Brothers, Universal, Paramount Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. His foundation is also dedicated to helping teenage children lead active lives and make healthy choices.
Some of his latest film appearances have been in, "Failure to Launch" (2006), "We Are Marshall" (2006), "Tropic Thunder" (2008), "
He has been honored in a number of ways such as People's magazine voting him, "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2005. He is also one of the 2011 presenters at the Academy Awards ceremony. He was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame on March 10, 2006 in Austin, Texas.
He has not yet married, but currently resides in Austin Texas with Brazilian model, Camila Alves whom he met in 2006 and they have two children together, Levi and Vida.
