MATT DILLON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Matt Dillon was born on February 18th, 1964 in New Rochelle, New York with the birth name Matthew Raymond Dillon, born to Mary Ellen and Paul Dillon into a family with six children total.
While attending Hommocks School, he was seen by a talent scout who asked him to attend a casting call. He was cast in his first film role in 1979 appearing in, "Over the Edge" starring along with Michael Eric Kramer, Ellen Geer, Harry Northup, Andy Romano and Vincent Spano. Soon he began to embark on a career as an actor and was adding such credits as, "My Bodyguard" (1980) with Chris Makepeace, Adam Baldwin, Martin Mull, Joan Cusack, John Houseman and Ruth Gordon, "Little Darlings" (1980) starring Tatum O'Neal, Kristy McNichol and Armand Assante and "Liar's Moon" (1982) starring Cindy Fisher, Yvonne DeCarlo, Christopher Connelly, Broderick Crawford and Hoyt Axton.
Now he had earned his place in Hollywood and was an idolized teenage star. More successful film roles soon followed such as, "Tex" (1982) also starring Frances Lee McCain, Jim Metzler, Meg Tilly, Emilio Estevez, Nell Carter, Bill McKinney and Ben Johnson, "The Outsiders" (1983) starring wit other members of the 'Brat Pack' C. Thomas Howell, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio and Diane Lane, "Rumble Fish" (1983) co-starring Mickey Rourke, Dennis Hopper, Diane Lane, Nicolas Cage, Laurence Fishburne, Chris Penn and William Smith, "The Flamingo Kid" (1984) with Richard Crenna, Hector Elizondo, Jessica Walter and Janet Jones, "Target" (1985) opposite Gene Hackman, "Drugstore Cowboy" (1989) also starring Kelly Lynch, Heather Graham, James Remar, James Le Gros and William S. Burroughs, "Singles" (1992) with Bridget Fonda, Campbell Scott, Kyra Sedgwick, Tom Skerritt and Sheila Kelley, "The Saint of Fort Washington" (1993) with Danny Glover and Ving Rhames, "Mr. Wonderful" (1993) co-starring Annabella Sciorra, Vincent D'Onofrio, William Hurt, Mary-Louise Parker and James Gandolfini and "To Die For" (1995) Nicole Kidman, Joaquin Phoenix, Illeana Douglas, Wayne Knight, Casey Affleck, Kurtwood Smith, Dan Hedaya and Alison Folland.
Along with working in films he made his stage Broadway debut in 1985 on, "The Boys of Winter". Along with film and stage work he also added the television credits, "American Playhouse" (1982) and the television movie, "Women & Men 2: In Love There Are No Rules" (1991).
Not showing any attempt to slow down in the film industry he continued to appear in more films, "Wild Things" (1998) co-starring Neve Campbell, Kevin Bacon, Denise Richards, Theresa Russell, Robert Wagner and Bill Murray, "There's Something About Mary" (1998) also starring Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller, Chris Elliott and Lee Evans, "One Night at McCool's" (2001) starring with Liv Tyler, Michael Douglas, John Goodman, Paul Reiser, Reba McEntire and Andrew Dice Clay, "Employee of the Month" (2004) with Christina Applegate and "Crash" (2004) starring alongside Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Jennifer Esposito, Terrence Howard, Larenz Tate, Brendan Fraser, Michael Pena, Thandie Newton, Ryan Phillippe and Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, a film for which he earned his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Along with working as an actor with no formal education as a director, he was given a chance to direct an episode of the television series, "Oz" in 1999 followed by directing the film, "City of Ghosts" (2002).
Other more recent film roles include, "You, Me and Dupree" (2006) co-starring Kate Hudson, Owen Wilson, Michael Douglas, Amanda Detmer and Harry Dean Stanton, "Nothing but the Truth" (2008) alongside Kate Beckinsale, Vera Farmiga, Alan Alda, Noah Wyle, Angela Bassett, Preston Bailey and David Schwimmer, "Armored" (2009) co-starring Jean Reno, Laurence Fishburne, Amaury Nolasco, Milo Ventimiglia, Skeet Ulrich and Columbus Short, "Imogene" (2012) and soon to release in 2013, "Whiskey Bay", "The Black Marks", "Seconds of Pleasure" and "Inferno: Linda Lovelace Story".
Matt Dillon has yet to marry or have any children of his own and was in the media for having a three year relationship with actress, Cameron Diaz.
