MATT CLARK BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Matt Clark was born on November 25th, 1936 in Washington, District of Columbia, born to Frederick and Theresa Clark. He was raised in Virginia and after high school, he served for two years in the United States Army before attending George Washington University. Prior to earning his degree, he left to follow a career in theater.
Clark relocated to New York City and studied acting with Herbert Berghof, Bill Hickey and Frank Laughton. Soon he found work at the Living Theater and appeared in a number of off-Broadway productions gaining quite a bit of experience as a stage actor.
Clark then made the move west to California in search of a career in the film industry. Over the course of his career as an actor he would add more then fifty film and television appearances to his credits. Some of his more well known film roles included, five time Academy Award winning "In the Heat of the Night" (1967) starring Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger, Lee Grant, William Schallert, Larry Gates and Warren Oates, "Will Penny" (1968) starring Charlton Heston, Joan Hackett, Ben Johnson, Lee Majors, Bruce Dern, Slim Pickens, Anthony Zerbe, Jon Gries and Donald Pleasence, "The Cowboys" (1972) starring John Wayne, Roscoe Lee Browne, Slim Pickens, A Martinez, Colleen Dewhurst, Stephen R. Cat", "Little House on the Prairie", "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre" and "Chicago Hope" among many others.
Matt Clark has married twice throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Erica Lann whom he wed in 1958 and together they had two children before the marriage ended in divorce in 1965. He then married Carol Trieste in 1968 and they also had two children before this marriage also came to an end.
