MARIETTE HARTLEY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Mariette Hartley was born on June 21st, 1940 in Weston, Connecticut with the middle name Loretta born to Mary Ickes and Paul Hembree Hartley. She had a very dis-functional childhood growing up, and her father was never compassionate to her. She also suffered from bipolar disorder and in 1962, she experienced the loss of her father when he took his own life.
She turned to theater for comfort due to her lack of feeling special and wanted during her childhood. She first studied with John Houseman at the Repertory Stratford and later with Eva Le Gallienne at Lucille Lortel's White Barn Theatre. She began working as a stage actress in her teen years and after gaining six years of stage experience she was finally cast in her first film, "Ride the High Country" (1962) starring Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea followed by small television appearances on, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "Gunsmoke".
As her career progressed she added a number of television appearances to her resume in such series as, "The Virginian", "The Twilight Zone", "Star Trek", "M*A*S*H", "Peyton Place", "Logan's Run" and "The Incredible Hulk".
In addition to working as a stage and television actress she began to add more film credits to her resume such as, "Marooned" (1969), "Earth II" (1971) and "The Return of Count Yorga" (1971).
Hartley also hosted a television documentary called, "Wild About Animals" and more recently she stared in her own one woman show in 2006 called, "If You Get to Bethlehem, You've Gone Too Far".
Most recently, Hartley has appeared on the television series, "Dirt" (2007), "Grey's Anatomy" (2008), "Cold Case" (2008), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2003-2011) and "Big Love" (2011).
In addition to her career as an actress, Hartley is also a national Spokesperson for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and was also a spokesperson at one time for an organization called, See Clearly method which was a VHS/DVD tutorial developed by the Vision Improvement Technologies to help correct impaired vision.
Mariette Hartley has married three times first to Jerry Sroka briefly and she then married John Seventa in 1960 but only for two years. Her third husband was Patrick Boyriven whom she wed in 1978 and had two children with before this marriage also came to an end in 1996.
