Laraine Day was born on October 13th, 1920 in Roosevelt, Utah with her birth name as Laraine Johnson.  Her family was Mormon and when her family relocated to Long Beach, California she became involved in acting.  Her first introduction to acting was working with the Long beach Players.  After graduating from High School at Poly High in Riverside, California she decided to try and pursue a career as an actress.

Day's first film role was a minor part in, "Stella Dallas" (1937) followed by being cast in several lead roles in a variety of western films with RKO Pictures.  In 1939, she was approached by MGM and asked to sign a contract with them.  She was cast as the part, Mary Lamont in a number of the, "Dr. Kildare" films beginning with her first one, "Calling Dr. Kildare" (1939).

She followed this role with a number of roles in various films but never reached the level of stardom she had hoped for.  She had a supporting role in the film, "My Son, My Son" (1940). "Foreign Correspondent" (1940) and "The Locket" (1946).

She also worked as a stage actress and television actress.  She made her stage debut in the national tour of, "Angel Street" and "The Women" in 1973.  Laraine's television appearances included, "The Ford Television Theatre" and "Lux Video Theatre".  She was also an author and published a book called, "Day With the Giants" (1952) and "The America We Love" (also 1952).
