LAFE MCKEE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Lafe McKee was born on January 23rd, 1872 in Morrison, Illinois with the birth name Lafayette Stocking McKee.  His acting career began in 1913 appearing in such shorts as, "Tested by Fire" (1914), "When Thieves Fall Out" (1914), "The Man from Bitter Roots" (1916), "The End of the Trail" and "In Search of a Sinner" (1920).
 
Over the course of his career he would add over 300 credits to his resume, although many were un-credited roles and the majority of his work was on westerns where he mostly portrayed the likeable character of the storyline.
 
Some of his more well known film roles included, "The Miracle Rider" (1935) starring Tom Mix, "Range Law" (1931), "The Rangers Step in" (1937), "Rawhide" (1938), "Covered Wagon Trails" (1940), "Wells Fargo Days" (1944) and his final role was in 1948 in, "Belle Starr's Daughter".    

Although Lafe's forte was mainly western films, he also had the opportunity to partake in some of the better drama movies of the day such as "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" (1930) starring James Stewart, Jean Arthur and Claude Rains and "Meet John Doe" (1941) starring Gary Cooper, Walter Brennan, Barbara Stanwyck, James Gleason and Edward Arnold. 

Lafe McKee married only once to Lelah Underwood and they had three children together.  He passed away on August 10th, 1959 in Temple City, California after suffering from arteriosclerosis.
