KYRA SEDGWICK BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Kyra Sedgwick was born on August 19th, 1965 in New York City, New York with the birth name Kyra Minturn Sedgwick, born to Patricia Rosenwald and Henry Dwight Sedgwick. Her younger brother, Robert Sedgwick also pursued a career as an actor. At the age of six her parents divorced and her mother later re-married.
Growing up she attended a number of private schools receiving her early years education and then after high school she went on to first study at Sarah Lawrence College and later earned a college degree in theatre from the University of Southern California.
She began acting at the age of sixteen when she first appeared on the soap opera, "Another World" (1964). She went on to study the art of acting with Michael Howard Studios in New York City as well as at the HB Drama Studio in Greenwich Village.
Some of her earlier film credits she added to her resume are roles in, "War and Love" (1985), "Born on the Fourth of July" (1989), "Singles" (1992), "Something to Talk About" (1995), "Phenomenon" (1996) and the television movies, "Miss Rose White" (1992), "American Playhouse: Lemon Sky" (1988).
Along with her acting credits she has also had the chance to work on the other side of the industry as a producer, making her debut in 1996 on the television movie, "Losing Chase". Other producing credits she has added to her resume are on the films, "Montana" (1998), "Cavedweller" (2004), "Loverboy" (2005) and on the television series, "The Closer" (2008-2011).
As her career has progressed she has remained working in films and television. She starred in the film, "Secondhand Lions" (2003), "The Woodsman" (2004), "The Game Plan" (2007) and for her role on the television series, "The Closer", she won a Golden Globe Award in 2007 as well as a Primetime Emmy in 2010. She was also awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contribution to the Television Industry in 2009.
Kyra has married only one time to her current husband, Kevin Bacon whom she wed in 1988 and together they have two children. Her most recent roles have been on the films, "Man on a Ledge" (2012), "The Possession" (2012) and "Kill Your Darlings" scheduled to release in 2013.
