KEN HOWARD BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Ken Howard was born on March 28th, 1944 in El Centro, California with the birth name Kenneth Joseph Howard Jr. His parents were, Martha Carey and Kenneth Joseph Howard Sr. and he had one brother, Don Howard. Although, Howard was born in California he was raised in Long Island, New York and attended Manhasset High School where he excelled at basketball being 6'6" tall.
After earning his high school diploma he went on to earn a college degree from Amherst College and then attended Yale School of Drama, however prior to earning his masters, he dropped out to work on Broadway.
His first stage production was in, "Promises, Promises" (1968), followed by a role in, "Child's Play" (1970), for which he earned a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actor. Over the course of his career as an actor he added such production to his resume as, "Seesaw" (1973), "The Norman Conquests" (1975), "Little Black Sheep" (1975), "Rumors" (1988), "Camping with Henry and Tom" (1995), "In the Moonlight Eddie" (1996) and "According to Tip" (2007).
In addition to his many stage credits he also began taking on such film roles as, "Tell Me That You Love Me" (1970), "Oscar" (1991), "Clear and Present Danger" (1994) starring Harrison Ford, "The Net" (1995), "In Her Shoes" (2005), "Rambo" (2007), "The Number One Game" (2010) and "J. Edgar" (2011) starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Howard also served as National President of the Screen Actors Guild from 2009 and has been a member of SAG for over forty years. He was elected President again in 2011.
Ken Howard is not only a well known film and stage actor, as he has also over the course of his career added numerous television credits to his resume in such television movies as, "The White Shadow" (1978), "Father Damien" (1980) and "Rage of Angels" (1983). He has also appeared on such series as, "Adam's Rib" (1973), "The Manhunter" (1974-1975), "The Body Human: Facts for Boys:" (1981), "Prefect Murder, Perfect Town" (2000), "Dynasty" (1985-1986), "Murder, She Wrote" (1985-1994), "Diagnosis Murder" (1996-1997), "Melrose Place" (1994-1998), "The West Wing" (1999), "The Practice" (1997-2000), "Boston Legal" (2008), "The Office" (2006), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2006) and "The Young and the Restless" (2011).
Not only is he an actor, in 2003, he has also published the book, "ACT NATURAL: How to Speak to Any Audience". He has also voiced more than thirty best-selling books on tape.
Howard also is a very charitable man being appointed as Chancellor of the National Kidney Foundation after he underwent a kidney transplant in 2000. He now helps encourage people to donate their organs. He also serves on the Board of the Los Angeles Alzheimer's Committee and owns two restaurants in Boston, The Rustic Kitchen and Mario's Place.
Ken Howard is currently married to his third wife, Linda Fetters whom he wed in 1992 and they reside in Los Angeles. Prior to this marriage, he married Louise Sorel in 1973 but divorced just two years later and he then wed Margo Howard in 1977 however by 1991, this marriage also ended in divorce, He has no children of his own.
