JULIANNE MOORE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Julianne Moore was born on December 3rd, 1960 in Fayetteville, North Carolina with the birth name Julie Anne Smith. Her father, Peter Moore Smith, worked as a military judge, therefore the family moved a total of twenty three times and she attended nine different schools growing up. She had one younger sister and one younger brother and her mother, Anne McNeil McLean worked as a psychiatric social worker.
After graduating from Frankfurt American High School in Germany, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Performing Arts in 1983 at Boston university. Moore then relocated to New York and began working as a stage actress in such productions as, "Serious Money", "Ice Cream With Hot Fudge" and "Hamlet".
She soon made her way into television work appearing on, "The Edge of Night" (1956), "As the World Turns" from 1985 through 1988 and such television movies as, "Money, Power, Murder" (1989), "The Last to Go" (1991) and "Cast a Deadly Spell" (1991).
Along with television and stage work she finally broke into the film industry appearing in such features as, "Tales from the Darkside: The Movie" (1990), "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" (1992), "The Fugitive" (1993) starring Harrison Ford, "Short Cuts" (1993), "Jurassic Park" (1993), "Vanya on 42nd Street" (1994), "Safe" (1995), "Nine Months" (1995), "Assassins" (1995), "Surviving Picasso" (1996), "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" (1997) and "Boogie Nights" (1997) for which she received both a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination for her performance.
Finally, Moore had really begun to make a name for herself in the film industry and had proved to Hollywood that she was quite a talented actress. She remained working in more successful films such as, "Cookie's Fortune" (1999), "An Ideal Husband" (1999), "Magnolia" (1999), "A Map of the World" (1999), "Far from Heaven" (2002), "Freedomland" (2006), "Next" (2007), "Blindness" (2008) and "A Single Man" (2009) for which she received her fifth Golden Globe nomination.
Over the course of her career in the industry she has been nominated for a total of four Oscars, six Golden Globe Awards, three BAFTA's and nine Screen Actors Guild Awards.
In 2006 she returned to stage acting making her Broadway debut in a production of, "The Vertical Hour". More recently, Moore has graced the silver screen in such films as, "Chloe" (2010), "The Kids Are All Right" (2010), "Crazy, Stupid, Love" (2011) and soon to release in 2012, "Being Flynn", "The English Teacher", "What Maisie Knew", "Nicholas North" and "The Seventh Son".
In addition to her acting career she is also a well known published author for children's books such as, "Freckleface Strawberry" and "the Dodgeball Bully".
Moore is currently married to her second husband, Bart Freundlich whom she wed in 2003 and together they have two children. She was married once before to John Gould Rubin in 1986 and they stayed together until 1995.
Julianne Moore resides in Manhattan and remains working in the industry. She also devotes a lot of her time to politics. She is vocal about her pro-choice beliefs and supports same-sex marriages. She is also involved in supporting a number of charities such as the TS Alliance and the Moms Clean Air Force.
