JUDD HIRSCH BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Judd Hirsch was born on March 15th, 1935 in The Bronx, New York, born to Sally and Joseph Hirsch. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in New York and then received his college degree in physics from City College of new York. He then went on to study drama at the HB Studio in Greenwich village in New York City.

Hirsch then began to work as a television actor first appearing on such shows as, "The Law" (1974), "Medical Story" (1975) and "Visions" (1976). After gaining some more experience in the industry he was cast in his most well known role on the television series, "Taxi" (1981) playing Alex Rieger, for which he won two Emmy Awards for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Soon more recurring roles followed on such television shows as, "Dear John" (1988-1992) for which he won a Golden Globe in 1989 for Best Actor in a Television series.

Along with his television roles, Hirsch also added numerous film credits to his resume such as, "Ordinary People" (1980) for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor succeeded by roles in, "Without a Trace" (1983), "Teachers" (1984), "The Goodbye People" (1984), "Running on Empty" (1988), "Independence Day" (1996) and "A Beautiful Mind" (2001).

Some of his more recent roles have been on such television series as, "NUMB3RS", "Warehouse 13" and "Law & Order: SVU". He also appeared in such stage productions as, "The Hot I Baltimore", "Tally Folly" and "I'm Not Rappaport". In addition he has done voice over work for such programs as, "Tom Goes to the Mayor" and "American Dad!".

In 2011 he was cast as a regular on the series, "Damages" and the television movies, "Silent Witness" (2011) and "Untitled Larry Dorf/Ben Falcone Project" set to release in 2013.

Judd married twice throughout his lifetime, first to a lady named Elissa from 1956 through 1958. He then married Bonni Chalkin in 1992 and they had two children before this marriage ended in divorce in 2005.
