JOHNNY SEVEN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Johnny Seven was born on February 23rd, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York with the birth name John Anthony Fetto II, born to Marie and John Fetto. He had five sisters and growing up he excelled as a soprano singer.
After high school he served for two years in the United States Army and it was during this time that he developed an interest in acting when he performed in a number of USO shows.
After completing his military service he decided to fid work as a stage actor in New York and after gaining some years of experience he began appearing on a number of television shows such as, "Inner Sanctum" and "The Phil Silvers Show".
In 1958 he relocated to Hollywood and began working with Universal Pictures on a number of television series with them appearing on, "The D.A.'s Man", "Mike Hammer", "The Lawless Years" and "Peter Gunn".
Over the course of his career he added numerous television, film and stage credits to his resume. Some of his more well known film roles have included Elia Kazan's 8 time Academy Award winner, "On the Waterfront" (1954) starring alongside Marlon Brando, Karl Malden, Lee J. Cobb, Rod Steiger, Fred Gwynne, Pat Hingle, Martin Balsam and Eva Marie Saint, "The Last Mile" (1959) starring Mickey Rooney, Frank Overton, Michael Constantine, Ford Rainey, Clifton James and Don 'Red' Barry, "The Apartment" (1960) starring Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, Fred MacMurray, Edie Adams, Jack Kruschen and Ray Walston, "The Music Box Kid" (1960) with Ronald Foster, Luana Patten and Grant Richards, "Guns of the Timberland" (1960) starring Alan Ladd, Jeanne Crain, Gilbert Roland, Alana Ladd and Frankie Avalon, "What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?" (1968) co-starring James Coburn, Aldo Ray, Giovanna Ralli, Carroll O'Connor, Sergio Fantoni, Harry Morgan and Dick Shawn, "The Destructors" (1968) starring with Richard Egan, Patricia Owens, John Ericson and Michael Ansara and "The Love God?" (1969) starring Don Knotts, Anne Francis, Edmond O'Brien, Maureen Arthur and James Gregory.
Along with film work he added over 100 television series to his resume with appearances on, "Naked City", "Bonanza", "Rescue 8", "Gunsmoke", "The Loretta Young Show", "Man With a Camera", "Everglades", "Lock Up", "Hennesey", "87th Precinct", "One Step Beyond", "Bat Masterson", "CHiPS", "Charlie's Angels", "The Untouchables", "The Deputy", "The Lineup", "Batman", "Death Valley Days" and as Lt. Carl Reese on "Ironside" (1968-1975) starring Raymond Burr.
In addition to working as an actor he has also worked on the other side of the industry as a director for several television shows and wrote a number of plays as well as directed them.
Some of his projects included writing, directing and producing a 26 minute Showtime TV pilot title, "Gina & Me". He also co-wrote, produced, directed and starred in the film, "Navajo Run" (1964) with Warren Kemmerling with Virginia Vincent and the documentary, "Inhale-Exhale…The New Terror" (1965). In 1997 he wrote and produced a documentary, "Uncle Joe's Garden".
His most recent appearances were on the television series, "The Master", "Murder, She Wrote" and "Can't Hurry Love".
Johnny Seven married only once to Edith Piselli in 1949 and they had two children together and remained married until he passed away on January 22nd, 2010 in Mission Hills, California after suffering from lung cancer at the age of eighty three.
