JOHN MALKOVICH BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
John Malkovich was born on December 9th, 1953 in Christopher, Illinois with the middle name Gavin to parents, Daniel Leon and Joe Anne Malkovich. He was raised in Benton, Illinois and graduated from Benton Consolidated High School. During high school he was very involved in a number of school productions and was also a member of a folk/rock group. After high school, he went on to study at Eastern Illinois University and then earned his college degree from Illinois State University.
He first began his involvement in the entertainment industry working as a stage actor with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago and son relocated to New York to appear in such plays as, "True West" for which he won an Obie Award. He followed his job with directing, "Balm in Gilead" (1984) receiving another Obie Award as well as a Drama Desk Award. After appearing in the Broadway production of, "Death of a Salesman", he began finding work in films.
Malkovich began as working as an extra in such films as, "A Wedding" (1978) and then followed with more prominent roles in such films as, "Places in the Heart" (1984), "The Killing Fields" (1984), "Empire of the Sun" (1987), "The Glass Menagerie" (1987), "Dangerous Liaisons" (1988), "Of Mice and Men" (1992) and "In the Line of Fire" (1994) for which he was nominated for an Oscar.
In addition to his acting he also has experience working as a director on such films as, "The Dancer Upstairs" (2002) and "Hideous Man" (2002). He also started his own fashion company with a men's collection and co-owns a restaurant in Portugal.
More recently he has appeared in such films as, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (2005), "Beowulf" (2007), "Burn After Reading" (2008), "Changeling" (2008), "Red" (2010), "Secretariat" (2010), "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" (2011), "As Linhas de Torres" (2011) and soon to release, "Warm Bodies" (2013) and "Educazione Siberiana" (2013).
John Malkovich has married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Glenne Headly from 1982 through 1988. He then married his current wife, Nicoletta Peyran in 1989 and they have two children and remain together today.
