JOHN LUND BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
John Lund was born on February 6th, 1911 in Rochester, New York. He had an unstable childhood and at the age of fourteen, he dropped out of school and worked odd end jobs to support himself.
Soon, Lund found work as a stage actor appearing in such productions as, "Waiting for Lefty" followed by more stage work in summer stock productions. He continued working as a stage actor but also made a living working in radio and advertising.
His career finally began to take off when he was cast in the Broadway play, "As You Like It" which was followed with roles in, "New Faces of 1943" and "The Hasty Heart". His stage success helped Hollywood take notice of him and soon he was signed to a contract with Paramount.
Now he began adding film credits to his resume such as, "To Each His Own" (1946) starring with Olivia de Havilland, Mary Anderson, Roland Culver, Bill Goodwin and Phillip Terry, "The Perils of Pauline" (1947) co-starring Betty Hutton, Chester Conklin, Hank Mann, Snub Pollard, William Demarest, Billy DeWolfe, Frank Faylen, Constance Collier, William Farnum and James Finlayson. "A Foreign Affair" (1948) co-starring Jean Arthur, Marlene Dietrich, Millard Mitchell and Gordon Jones, "Miss Tatlock's Millions" (1948) with Wanda Hendrix, Barry Fitzgerald, Monty Woolley, Ilka Chase and Robert Stack, "My Friend Irma" (1949) starring Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Marie Wilson, Diana Lynn, Don DeFore and Hans Conried, "No Man of Her Own" (1950) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Phyllis Thaxter, Lyle Bettger, Jane Cowl, Henry O'Neill, Harry Antrim, Milburn Stone, Esther Dale and Richard Denning and "The Mating Season" (1951) also starring Gene Tierney, Miriam Hopkins, Jan Sterling, Cora Witherspoon, Ellen Corby and Thelma Ritter.
In the 1950's he played insurance investigator Johnny Dollar in the popular radio series "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar".
By the mid 1950's his career began to slow down and after appearing in, "High Society" (1956) starring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Celeste Holm, Louis Calhern, Louis Armstrong and Sidney Blackmer, "Dakota Incident" (1956) also starring Dale Robertson, Linda Darnell, Skip Homeier, Whit Bissell, Irving Bacon, Ward Bond, John Doucette, Regis Toomey and William Fawcett, "Affair in Reno" (1957) starring alongside Doris Singleton, John Archer, Angela Greene, Alan Hale Jr., Harry Bartell, Howard McNear, Richard Deacon, Thurston Hall and Virginia Carroll, "The Wackiest Ship in the Army" (1960) starring Jack Lemmon, Ricky Nelson, Joby Baker, Richard Anderson, Mike Kellin, Tom Tully and Chips Rafferty and his final film role, "If a Man Answers" (1962) starring Bobby Darin, Sandra Dee, Cesar Romero, Micheline Presle and Stefanie Powers, he chose to retire from the industry but remained living in California.
John Lund married only once to Marie Lund in 1942 and they remained together until she passed away in 1982. He then lost his life on May 10th, 1992 in Los Angeles, California.
