JOHN ERICSON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
John Ericson was born on September 23rd, 1926 in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany with the birth name Joseph Meibes. He studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and began his career on Broadway in 1951.
Ericson then began working in the film industry with the production company, MGM. Some of his early film roles include, "Teresa" (1951) starring with Peggy Ann Garner, Ralph Meeker, Richard Bishop, Pier Angeli, Patricia Collinge and Rod Steiger, "Rhapsody" (1954) starring Elizabeth Taylor, Vittorio Gassman, Louis Calhern, Michael Chekhov, Barbara Bates, Celia Lovsky and Stuart Whitman, "The Student Prince" (1954) co-starring Ann Blyth, Edmund Purdom, Mario Lanza, Louis Calhern, Edmund Gwenn, S.Z. Sakall, Betta St. John, John Williams, Evelyn Varden and John Hoyt, "Green Fire" (1954) also starring Grace Kelly, Stewart Granger and Paul Douglas, "Bad Day at Black Rock" (1955) starring alongside Spencer Tracy, Robert Ryan, Anne Francis, Dean Jagger, Walter Brennan, Ernest Borgnine and Lee Marvin and "Forty Guns" (1957) starring with Barbara Stanwyck, Barry Sullivan, Gene Barry, Dean Jagger and Hank Worden.
As he continued working in the industry as an actor he turned his focus to mainly television roles adding appearances on a number of series such as, "Climax!', "Rawhide", 'Route 66", "Kraft Mystery Theater", "The Fugitive", "Burke's Law", "Honey West", "Bonanza", "The Invaders", "Death Valley Days", "Ironside", "Marcus Welby, M.D", "The Virginian", "Medical Center", "Hawkins", "Police Story", "Police Woman", "Zane Grey Theatre", "Nero Wolfe", "CHiPs", "Night Rider", "Fantasy Island", "Murder, She Wrote", "Wagon Train" and "General Hospital among many others.
He did add a couple more film roles to his credits such as, "Pretty Boy Floyd" (1960) starring with Barry Newman, Joan Harvey, Carl York, Phil Kenneally, Roy Fant and Peter Falk, "7 Faces of Dr. Lao" (1964) starring Tony Randall, Arthur O'Connell, Barbara Eden, Chubby Johnson, Royal Dano, Noah Beery Jr., John Doucette, Eddie Little Sky and John Qualen and Walt Disney's "Bedknobs and Brooksticks" (1971) starring Angela Lansbury, David Tomlinson, Roddy McDowall, Reginald Owen and Sam Jaffe, "Primary Target" (1990) starring John Calvin and Mike Kim and his most recent film role was in 2006 in, "The Far Side of Jericho" starring Suzanne Andrews, Patrick Bergin, Lawrence Pressman, Judith Burnett, James Gammon, C. Thomas Howell and John Diehl.
In 1974, Ericson posed nude for Playgirl magazine. He has married twice, first to Milly Coury in 1953 and they had two children before this marriage came to an end in 1971. His second time to marry was in 1974 to his present wife, Karen Erickson and they currently reside in New Mexico. His last known acting role was in 2008 appearing on the television series, "Crash".
