JOHN BROMFIELD BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
John Bromfield was born on June 11th, 1922 in South Bend, Indiana with the birth name Farron McClain Brumfield. He was very athletic and it was his appearance and physical physique that helped him ultimately end up in a life of show business. During school he played football as well as excelled at boxing and even joined the United States Navy before pursuing a career in entertainment.
By the age of twenty six, Bromfield had signed a contract with paramount and was appearing on such films as, "Sorry, Wrong Number" (1948), "Rope of Sand" (1949), "The Big Bluff" (1955), "Frontier Gambler" (1956), "Three Bad Sisters" (1956), "Quincannon, Frontier Scout" (1956), "Manfish" (1956) and "Hot Cars" (1956).
Although he was working in the film industry, none of his film roles ever really reached the level of stardom he had aspired for, therefore, he began to turn his focus towards television roles appearing on such series as, "Sheriff of Cochise" (1956) which ran for eighty two episodes before changing titles to, "U.S. Marshal" in it's third season and continuing to air from 1958 through 1960 with a total of fifty five episodes.
Unhappy, with the direction his life was heading as an actor, he retired from acting in 1960 and began to focus on working as a commercial fisherman. John remained out of the limelight and passed away on September 18th, 2005 in Palm Desert, California after suffering from kidney failure at the age of eighty three.
Throughout his lifetime, he married three times. First to actress Corinne Calvet in 1948, however, by 1954 this marriage had come to an end. He then wed Larri Thomas but this marriage was also short lived. His third and final wife was Mary Bromfield in 1962 and they were together until he passed away.
His remains are buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.
