JOE FLYNN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Joe Flynn was born on November 8th, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio with the birth name Joseph A. Flynn.  After graduating from Youngstown's Raven School he went on to study at Northwestern University and The University of Notre Dame  and then became involved in the entertainment industry working as a ventriloquist and then a radio performer.

He took a break from working as a performer to join the Army's Special Services during World War II where he would entertain the troops.  After completing his military service he returned to Youngstown and ran for a seat in the Ohio Senate as a Republican.  However he was unsuccessful and therefore, relocated to Los Angeles, California and began pursuing a career as a film actor.

His film debut was in "The Big Chase" (1954) followed by a role as a priest in "The Seven Little Foys" (1955).  Along with working as a film actor he made his way to a number of television roles in such shows as "The George Gobel Show" (1954), "The Joey Bishop Show" (1961), "McHale's Navy" (1962), "The Life of Riley" (1957), "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" (1960-1963), "The Tim Conway Show" (1970) and he was also a frequent guest star on "Batman".

He continued to make numerous appearances on the big screen and in total he appeared in ten Walt Disney films such as "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes", "Now You See Him, Now You Don't" (1972) and "The Strongest Man in the World" (1975).  His final role was doing voice over work for the Disney animated film, "The Rescuers" (1977).

Along with working as an actor, Flynn headed up a movement on behalf of, The Screen Actors Guild in regards to equal distribution of television residual payments.

Flynn married only one time to Shirley Haskin in 1955 and they had two children together and remained married until Flynn passed away on July 19th, 1974 in Los Angeles, California after he suffered a heart attack and ultimately died from drowning at the age of forty nine.  He is interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
