JOAN BLACKMAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Joan Blackman was born on May 17th, 1938 in San Francisco, California with the middle name May. Blackman made her acting debut on the television series, "Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans" in 1957 starring Lex Barker and Lon Chaney Jr.
She soon followed this role with her film debut, "Good Day for a Hanging" (1959) starring Fred MacMurray, Maggie Hayes, Robert Vaughn. She is most remembered for starring in two films alongside Elvis Presley. Over the course of her career she added such film credits as, "Career" (1959) co-starring starring Dean Martin, Anthony Franciosa, Shirley MacLaine, Robert Middleton, Donna Douglas, Frank McHugh and Carolyn Jones, "Visit to a Small Planet" (1960) starring with Jerry Lewis, Fred Clark, Earl Holliman, Jerome Cowan, Gale Gordon, John Williams, Milton Frome and Lee Patrick, "Blue Hawaii" (1961) starring Elvis Presley, Angela Lansbury, Howard McNear, Iris Adrian, John Archer, Steve Brodie, Hilo Hattie, Roland Winters and Nancy Walters, "Kid Galahad" (1962) starring Elvis Presley, Lola Albright, Gig Young, Charles Bronson, Edward Asner, Judson Pratt, Red West, Roy Roberts, Robert Emhardt, Ned Glass and Liam Redmond and "Macon County Line" (1974) also starring Alan Virt, Cheryl Waters, Geoffrey Lewis, Leif Garrett, Jesse Vint and James Gammon.
Along with working as a film actress she also added such television credits to her resume starring in, "Peyton Place", "On Camera", "Bonanza", "Circle of Fear", "Gunsmoke", "Perry Mason", "Kraft Suspense Theatre" and "I Spy".
Her most recent roles include the films, "Moonrunners" (1975) starring James Mitchum, Kiel Martin, Arthur Hunnicutt and narrated by Waylon Jennings which became the idea for the long running tv series "The Dukes of Hazzard", "They Came from Within" (1975) with Paul Hampton, Joe Silver and Lynn Lowry, "One Man" (1977) starring Len Cariou, Jayne Eastwood, Carol Lazare and Barry Morse and a recurring role on the television series, "The Castle of Adventure" (1990) starring Susan George, Gareth Hunt, Rosie Marcel and Brian Blessed.
Joan Blackman is now retired from acting and has married twice. First in 1959 to Joby Baker and they remained together until 1961. She then wed Rockne Tarkington in 1968 and they had two children and remained married until 1970. She has not re-married again and has not returned to the industry for any further appearances since 1990.
