JIM BELUSHI BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Jim Belushi was born on June 15th, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois with the birth name James Adam Belushi. He was the third of four children born to Adam and Agnes Belushi, both Albanian immigrants. He was raised in Wheaton, Illinois and during high school, became interested in acting and participated in a number of school plays.
After high school he enrolled at the College of DuPage and Southern Illinois University where he earned a degree in Speech and Theater Arts. He first broke into the entertainment industry when in 1977 he joined an improv troupe in Chicago. Then in 1979 he was given the chance to appear on the television pilot, "Who's Watching the Kids" (1978) followed by another television series role on, "Working Stiffs" (1979) and the film, "Thief" (1981).
Since his older brother, John Belushi was also involved in the entertainment industry working as an actor and had already begun to make quite a name for himself, Jim wanted to make sure that he differentiated himself from his brother, therefore when he was offered a role in the film, "Animal House" he declined since his brother was already part of the cast. Sadly, his older brother passed away at the age of 33 on march 5th, 1982 from a drug overdose.
Jim Belushi continued on working as an actor and his career was now heading in the right direction. He next had the chance to appear on, "Saturday Night Live" in 1983 and worked on this show for two years. His really big leap to stardom as when he starred in the film, "About Last Night" (1986) which finally took his career to a whole new level.
He was now appearing on the big screen in more prominent film such as, "Salvador", "Little Shop of Horrors" (both 1986), "Real Men" and "The Principal" (both 1987), "K-9" (1996), "Wild Palms" (1993), "Race the Sun" (1996), "Angel's Dance" (1999) and "Joe Somebody" (2001).
Along with his acting career, Belushi is also a co-owner of the House of Blues clubs with actor, Dan Aykroyd. Jim has also been involved with a number of voice over projects such as, "The Mighty Ducks" (1996), "Hey Arnold!" (1996-1999), "Babes in Toyland" (1997), "Gargoyles" (1995-1996), "Hoodwinked"(2005) and "The Wild" (2006).
Belushi also released his first book in 2006 titled, "Real Men Don't Apologize". He continues to work in the industry not only in television, film, commercials and voice over work but has also made numerous returns back to stage acting with his latest being in the Broadway production, "Born Yesterday" which opened in April 2011.
Jim Belushi has married three times throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Sandra Davenport whom he wed in 1980 and they had one son, Robert Belushi before the marriage ended in 1988.
