JESSICA ALBA BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Jessica Alba was born in Pomona, California on April 28, 1981. She moved around a bit due to her father’s service in the Air Force, but they settled back down in Southern California when she was nine. Alba became interested in acting, and by age twelve she had an agent. She nabbed her first role in Hollywood Pictures’ 1994 comedy “Camp to Nowhere”. Alba also found work modeling and appearing in some commercials. Soon after, she was cast in three episodes of Nickelodeon’s “The Secret World of Alex Mack” (1994). The TV show “Flipper” (1995-98) came next, in which she played fresh-faced Maya Greene for the first two seasons of the series. By the time she left the show, she was already a high school graduate and studying at the Atlantic Theater Company with actors like William H. Macy and his wife, Felicity Huffman.
She went on to appear in a film, “Venus Rising” (1995), as well as make a number of guest appearances on television shows, including “Brooklyn South” (1998) and “Beverly Hills, 90210” (1998). In 1999 she became well known to Hollywood with both her part as mean girl Kirsten in Drew Barrymore’s romantic comedy “Never Been Kissed” and starring role in the humorous horror flick “Idle Hands”. Alba appeared in the thriller “Paranoid” (2000), before snagging the lead role in the much anticipated science fiction series from Fox, “Dark Angel” (2000-2002). In the show she played genetically perfect Max Guevera, who strives to survive in the post-apocalyptic future.
The show earned some acclaim, but was ultimately canceled after only two seasons. She was back on the big screen for “Honey” (2003), in which she played a choreographer and up-and-coming dancer. In Alba’s next film, “Sin City” (2005), she portrayed stripper Nancy Callahan, a role that earned her an MTV Movie Award for “Sexiest Performance”. About this time, she brought a famous comic book character to life in “Fantastic Four” (2005). She took the part of Sue Storm, a heroine that could make herself invisible and create protective force fields. The actress got a taste of cinematography and production by making a short video documentary about the film, called “Fantastic Tour” (2005). Two years later she acted in the same role for the movie’s sequel, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” (2007).
“Into the Blue” (2005) was Alba’s third picture of the year, and in it she played a diver who discovers a sunken airplane full of illegal cargo. The film often depicted her in a bikini clad body, which contributed greatly to her newly found status of sex symbol in Hollywood. Her next film was the comedy “The Ten” (2007), followed by the second installment of the Fantastic Four series, and then a romantic comedy titled “Good Luck Chuck” (2007). Another comedy followed, “Meet Bill” (2007), and then the thriller “Awake” (2007).
In 2008 the actress branched out into the horror genre with “The Eye” (2008), a remake of the Hong Kong film “Jian Gui” (2002) about a women who undergoes an eye transplant and can now view the paranormal world. She returned to comedy quickly, for the Mike Myer’s film “The Love Guru” (2008). 2008 also brought Alba’s marriage to longtime boyfriend and co-star in the Fantastic Four features, Cash Warren. Since then, they have had two children together.
In 2009 she had only a guest appearance on television’s “The Office”. In 2010 she returned to her patterned vigor. First she acted alongside Kate Hudson and Casey Affleck in the crime drama “The Killer Inside Me”, then appeared in the romantic Valentine’s Day themed “Valentine’s Day”, and subsequently took a part as a sexy agent in “Machete”. In this year she appeared in two additional features: “An Invisible Sign” and “Little Fockers”. Alba then took a part opposite Joel McHale in “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D” (2011).
The actress currently has two films set to release. “A.C.O.D.”, which tells the comedic story of a grown man who discovers he was recruited for a study on divorced children many years ago, is scheduled to be shown in 2012. 2013 is set to see an animated comedy called “Escape from Planet Earth”.
