JEFF DANIELS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Jeff Daniels was born on February 19th, 1955 in Athens, Georgia with the middle name Warren. His family raised him in Michigan. After high school he went on to study at central Michigan University, however prior to earning his college degree he dropped out to pursue a career as an actor.
Some of his early film roles include, "Ragtime" (1981) starring James Cagney and Pat O'Brien; as well as early appearances, in small parts, by Samuel L. Jackson, Moses Gunn, Fran Drescher, Elizabeth McGovern, Donald O'Connor, Howard E. Rollins Jr. and John Ratzenberger, Multi Academy Award winning film "Terms of Endearment" (1983) starring Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, Danny DeVito, John Lithgow and Jack Nicholson, "The Purple Rose of Cairo" (1985) co-starring Mia Farrow, Danny Aiello, Edward Herrmann and Van Johnson, "Something Wild" (1986) starring Melanie Griffith and Ray Liotta, "Arachnophobia" (1990) with John Goodman, "Dumb & Dumber" (1994) starring with Jim Carrey, Teri Garr and Lauren Holly, "Speed" (1994) also starring Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper and Sandra Bullock, "Fly Away Home" (1996) co-starring Anna Paquin and Dana Delany, "Pleasantville" (1998) starring alongside Tobey Maguire, Reese Witherspoon, William H. he has also appeared on a variety of television series such as, "The Crossing", "Cheaters", "Breaking Away", "American Playhouse", "Trying Times" and "Frasier".
In addition to working as a film and television actor he has also added numerous stage credits to his resume such as, "God of Carnage", "Redwood Curtain", "The Golden Age" and "Johnny Got His Gun".
Daniels is also the founder of The Purple Rose Theater Company in Chelsea, Michigan. Daniels is also a songwriter and has released two albums, "Grandfather's Hat" and "Jeff Daniels Live and Unplugged".
He has married only once to Kathleen Treado in 1979 in and they have three children together. Most recently he has appeared in the films, "Howl" (2010), "Quad" (2011), "Looper" (2012), the television series, "The Newsroom" (2012) and soon to release, "Dumb and Dumber 2" (2014).
Jeff Daniels remains working in the industry, however he resides with his family in Michigan. In 2006, Daniels was inducted into the Michigan Hall of Fame .
