JAMES SPADER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

James Spader was born on February 7th, 1960 in Boston, Massachusetts with the middle name Todd, born to Todd and Jean Spader, who both worked as teachers. He attended high school at Phillips Academy in Andover, but dropped out in the eleventh grade and studied acting at the Michael Chekhov School in New York City..

He began pursuing a career as an actor and to support himself while looking for acting jobs he taught yoga and worked in the restaurant business.

His first major film role was in 1981 in, "Endless Love" followed by a role in, "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" (1989), which earned him the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Other more successful film roles succeeded such as, "The New Kids" (1985), "Pretty in Pink" (1986), "Mannequin" (1987), "White Palace" (1990), "Crash" (1996), "2 Days in the Valley" (1996), "Keys to Tulsa" (1996) and "Critical Care" (1997).

In addition to his work in film he is most well known for his role as attorney Alan Shore on the television series, "The Practice" (1997). Other television credits include, "The Family Tree", "Frasier", "Boston Legal" (2004) and "The Office" (2011-2012).

He has also performed in the production, "Race" on Broadway which ran for 297 performances.

James Spader has married once to Victoria Spader in 1987 and they have two children together and remained married until 2004. He is currently engaged to Leslie Stefanson and they have one child together.
