JAMES MITCHUM BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

James Mitchum was born on May 8th, 1941 in Los Angeles, California with the birth name James Robin Spence Mitchum. His father was actor, Robert Mitchum and from a young age, James was exposed to the acting industry.

He first began acting at the age of eight, appearing in the western film, "Colorado Territory" (1949). He did not work again in the industry until 1958 when he was cast in his first credited role on the film, "Thunder Road".

As his career as an actor progressed he added such film roles to his resume as, "The Beat Generation" (1959), "The Last Time I Saw Archie" (1961), "Young Guns of Texas" (1962), "The Victors" (1963), "In Harm's Way" (1965) starring John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Patricia Neal, Tom Tryon, Henry Fonda, Brandon de Wilde and Burgess Meredith just to name a few of the stars, "Ambush Day" (1966), "The Invincible Six" (1970), "Trackdown" (1976), "Blackout" (1978), "Hollywood Cop" (1987) and "Fatal Mission" (1990).

In addition to film roles he also appeared on the television series, "Have Gun - Will Travel", "The High Chaparral" and the television movie, "Jake Spanner, Private Eye" (1989).

His final three roles before he retired from the industry were in the film, "Mal d'Africa" (1990), "Enemy" (1990) and "Gengis Khan" (1992).

James Mitchum has married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Wende Wagner in 1967 and they had one child before the marriage came to an end in 1978. He then wed his current wife Vivian Mitchum, who passed away in 1997 from cancer and they too, had one child together.
