JAMES LYDON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
James Lydon was born on May 30th, 1923 in Harrington Park, New Jersey with the birth name James L. Lydon. He was the fifth of nine children raised in a Catholic family in New York City.
As he became a teenager, James decided to focus on a career in acting and began with working as a stage performer appearing on Broadway in 1937 in a number of productions.
After gaining some years of stage experience he began working in the film industry with such companies as Paramount and RKO. He is most well remembered for appearing on the "Henry Aldrich" series between 1941 and 1944 portraying, Henry Aldrich.
When the series came to an end he signed with Republic and other film roles he added to his credits included, "Gasoline Alley" (1951), "Island in the Sky" (1953) starring John Wayne, Lloyd Nolan, James Arness, Andy Devine and Harry Carey Jr., "Rage at Dawn" (1955) starring Randolph Scott, Forrest Tucker, Mala Powers, Denver Pyle, Edgar Buchanan and J. Carrol Naish, "Battle Stations" (1956) starring Richard Boone, John Lund, William Bendix and Keefe Brasselle and "Vigilante Force" (1976) starring Kris Kristofferson, Jan-Michael Vincent, Victoria Principal, Bernadette Peters and Brad Dexter.
His career as an actor was mostly focused on television series appearances such as, "Mr. and Mrs. North, Wagon Train, "M*A*S*H", "77 Sunset Strip", "Bronco", "Twilight Zone", "Lassie", "The Life of Riley", "Sergeant Preston of the Yukon", "The Texan", "Lawman", "Maverick" and "Man With a Camera" among many others.
Along with working as an actor he also gained experience on the other side of the industry as a writer and producer. He has produced such films as, "An American Dream" (1966), "First to Fight" (1967), "The Cool Ones" (1967), "Countdown" (1967) and the television series, "Roll Out" (1973).
Most recently he wrote in 1977 for an episode of, "Hawaii Five-O" and his most recent acting appearance was on the television series, "St. Elsewhere" in 1987. Jimmy Lydon has married twice, first to Patricia Pernetti for a brief time and when this marriage came to an end he wed Betty Lou Nedell in 1952 and they have two daughters together and remain married today. He resides in Bonita, California and for the most part has focused on his personal life and remained out of the public eye.
