JAMES EARL JONES BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
James Earl Jones was born on January 17th, 1931 in Arkabutla, Mississippi to parents, Ruth and Robert Earl Jones. When he was a young boy his father abandoned him and his mother and he was raised by his grandparents. As a young boy he was introduced to drama and began taking lessons. A Teacher also noticed he had a talent for writing. Due to his traumatic childhood being moved around, he developed a stutter and rarely would speak out loud, however in high school a teacher forced public speaking and he finally overcame his stutter.
He graduated from Brethen High School in Michigan and chose to enroll in college at the University of Michigan where he planned to study pre-med. However, it did not take long for him to change his mind on his career path and choose to pursue a acting profession.
He first found part time work as a stage crew member for Ramsdell Theatre in Michigan, however his work was interrupted during the war when he was sent off to Fort Benning to attend basic infantry Officers School. He earned his Rangers Tab and soon earned the rank of First Lieutenant. After being discharged from the military he relocated to new York City and furthered his acting education at the American Theatre Wing while working part time as a janitor to support himself.

Jones ahs been in the industry for over five decades and has managed to establish himself as one of the most versatile actors in the industry. Along with an already highly impressive resume for stage and film, he did not stop there. Jones made numerous television appearances on such shows as, "Guiding Light", "Dragnet", "Roots; The Next Generation", "Under One Roof", "Touched By an Angel", "Will & Grace", "Two & a Half Men", "Clipping Wings" and also hosted the children's show, "Long Ago and Far Away" (1989-1993).
He won two Emmy's in the same year, one for his role in, "Gabriel's Fire" (1991) and for Best Supporting Actor in, "Heat Wave" (1991). James has also been nominated fro numerous Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Spirit Awards and in 2009 was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award.
