JAMES FARENTINO BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
James Farentino was born on February 24th, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York, born to Anthony and Helen Farentino. Throughout the course of his career, he appeared in over 100 television shows and films. After high school, he went on to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and then went on to pursue a career as an actor.
He began with working as a stage actor debuting in 1961 in the Broadway production, "The Night of the Iguana". Soon he broke into the film and television industry. Some of his television roles he added to his resume were on, "The Reporter", "The Road West", "The Bold Ones", "Banning", "77 Sunset Strip", "Night Gallery", "Jesus of Nazareth", "Dynasty", "Melrose Place", "Blue Thunder" and "ER".
His film debut was in, "Psychomania/Violent Midnight" (1963) followed by a role in, "Ensign Pulver" (1964). Other film credits include, "Me, Natalie" (1969), "The Possessed" (1977), "The Final Countdown" (1980), "Dead and Buried" (1982), "Sins" (1985), "Dazzle" (1995), "Bullet Proof" (1996), "Woman of the Night" (2000) and his final film role was in 2004 in, "Naked Lie".
He received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Comedy or Drama Special for his role in the mini-series, "Jesus of Nazareth". In 1973 he was awarded the, Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Guest Artist for his stage performance in, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and that same year he won a Theatre World Award for his role as Stanley Kowalski in, "A Streetcar Named Desire".
James has had a couple issues with the law such as being arrested in British Columbia in 1991 for cocaine possession as well as being accused of stalking his former girlfriend, Frank Sinatra's daughter, Tina Sinatra. In 2010 he was booked for battery after trying to physically remove a man from his home.
He married a total of four times throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Elizabeth Ashley whom he wed in 1962 but divorced just three years later. He then married Michele Lee in 1966 and they had one child together before the marriage came to an end in 1983. His third wife was Debrah Farentino from 1985 through 1987. His fourth and final wife was Stella Farentino whom he wed in 1994 and they remained together until he passed away on January 24th, 2012 in Los Angeles, California from complications due to a broken hip.
