JACK KRUSCHEN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Jack Kruschen was born on March 20th, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada with the birth name Jack Joseph Kruschen. His career in performing began first as a stage actor and later he broke into the television and film industry becoming a well known character actor. Over the course of his career he appeared in over 200 films and television roles.
During high school he began working on radio dramas and during the 1940's he also did work for the Armed Forces Radio Service. He also appeared on a number of series both television and radio such as, "Broadway Is My Beat", "Pete Kelly's Blues", "Escape", "The Loretta Young Show", "Telephone Time", "Treasury Men in Action", "The Public Defender", "Our Miss Brooks", "Dragnet", "Mister Ed", "The Life of Riley", "The Red Skelton Hour", "Gunsmoke", "The Adventures of Jim Bowie", "Sugarfoot", "The Buccaneers", "The Lawless Years", "Bat Masterson", "Richard Diamond, Private Detective", "The Rifleman", "Frontier Gentlemen", "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar", "Nightbeat", "Columbo", "Webster", "Zorro", "Living Single", "Empty Nest", "Murphy Brown", "Suspense" and "Full House".
In 1960, he was honored with an Academy Award nomination for his role in the film, "The Apartment" (1960) starring alongside Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, Fred MacMurray, Ray Walston, Johnny Seven, Hope Holiday, David Lewis and Edie Adams. Other well known film roles included, "Abbott and Costello Go to Mars" (1953) with Dudley Dickerson, Robert Paige, Anita Ekberg, Joe Kirk, Martha Hyer and Mari Blanchard, "War of the Worlds" (1953) starring Gene Barry, Henry Brandon, Cedric Hardwicke, Paul Frees, Lewis Martin, Les Tremayne and Ann Robinson, "Angry Red Planet" (1960) starring Gerald Mohr, Naura Hayden and Les Tremayne, "Follow That Dream" (1962) starring Elvis Presley, Anne Helm, Arthur O'Connell, Joanna Moore, Simon Oakland, Roland Winters, Howard McNear and Frank DeKova, "McLintock!" Jack Kruschen married a total of three times throughout his lifetime, first in 1947 to Marjorie Ullman and after having two children this marriage came to an end in 1961. He then married Violet Rafaella Mooring in 1963 and they remained married until she passed away in 1978. His third wife was Mary Pender whom he was married to from 1979 until he passed away at the age of eighty, on April 2nd, 2002 in Chandler, Arizona after dying from natural causes.
