IRVING BACON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Irving Bacon was born on September 6th, 1893 in St. Joseph, Missouri, born to Millar and Myrtle Bacon.  His career as an actor began working in a number of silent films with Keystone Studios as well as with Mack Sennett in such shorts as, "A Favorite Fool" (1915), "Good Morning, Nurse" (1925), "Hurry Doctor!" (1925) and "Wide Open Faces" (1924) starring Stan Laurel.
 
As his career would progress he would add over 500 acting credits to his resume and portrayed characters ranging from chauffeurs, mailmen, clerks, handymen, carnival operators to doctors.
 
When the silent film era came to an end, he had no issue transitioning to talkies appearing in such feature films as, "Million Dollar Legs" (1932) starring W.C. Fields, Jack Oakie, Andy Clyde, Ben Turpin and Dickie Moore, "House of Mystery" (1934) starring Ed Lowry, Verna Hillie and George 'Gabby' Hayes, "Mr. Deed Goes to Town" (1936) starring Gary Cooper, Jean Arthur, George Bancroft, H. B. Warner and Douglass Dumbrille, "San Francisco" (1936) starring Clark Gable, Jeanette MacDonald and Spencer Tracy, Frank Capra's "You Can't Take It with You" (1938) starring James Stewart, Jean Arthur, Lionel Barrymore and Edward Arnold, "Meet John Doe" (1941) starring Gary Cooper, Walter Brennan, Barbara Stanwyck, James Gleason, June Lockhart, Spring Byington and Edward Arnold, "Gung Ho!" (1944) starring Randolph Scott, Alan Curtis, Milburn Stone, Robert Mitchum, Rod Cameron, Noah Beery Jr. and J. Carrol Naish and "Room for One More" (1952), "A Star is Born" (1954) starring Judy Garland and James Mason and "Ambush at Cimarron Pass" (1958) starring Scott Brady and Clint Eastwood.
 
In addition to his many film roles he also appeared on a huge amount of television series such as, "Wagon Train", "My Little Margie" starring Gale Storm and Charles Farrell, "The Real McCoys", "I Love Lucy", "Maverick" starring James Garner and Jack Kelly, "Date With the Angels" starring Betty White and Bill Williams, "Laramie", "77 Sunset Strip" and "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show".
 
Irving Bacon married only once to a lady named Margaret and they had two children together and remained married until she passed in 1934.  He did not re-marry and on February 5th, 1965 he passed away in Hollywood, California.
