Hillary Brooke ACTOR

Hillary Brooke was born on September 8th, 1914 in Astoria, New York with the birth name Beatrice Sofia Mathilda Peterson.
Throughout her career as an actress, she portrayed herself as an intelligent woman and never really showed much sex appeal, therefore she was never really cast as the 'sexy' lady and vary rarely would her character win the love of the man at the end of the storyline.  Although, she was American, she was able to imitate such a good British Accent, that it became a part of almost every role she took.
Some of her more known roles were in, “Monsieur Beaucaire” (1946) starring Bob Hope, Joan Caulfield, Marjorie Reynolds, Joseph Schildkraut, Reginald Owen and Douglass Dumbrille, “The Fuller Brush Man” (1948) starring Red Skelton, Janet Blair and Adele Jergens, “The Abbott and Costello Show” (1952), “Jane Eyre” (1943) starring Orson Welles, Joan Fontaine, Elizabeth Taylor, John Sutton, Peggy Ann Garner and Agnes Moorehead, "Africa Screams" (1949) starring the comedy team of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, “The Philadelphia Story” (1940) starring James Stewart, Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant, “Lady in the Dark” (1944) starring Ginger Rogers, Ray Milland, Warner Baxter, Jon Hall, Mischa Auer and Barry Sullivan, “Ministry of Fear” (1944) starring Ray Milland and Marjorie Reynolds, “The Enchanted Cottage” (1945) starring Robert Young, Dorothy McGuire, Herbert Marshall, Mildred Natwick and Spring Byington and “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (1956) starring James Stewart, Doris Day and Alan Mowbray.
Other television credits included roles on, “Perry Mason”, “I Love Lucy”, "Mr. and Mrs. North" and “My Little Margie”.  She was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contribution to the television industry.
Hillary Brooke married twice throughout her lifetime.  Her first husband was Jack Voglin whom she wed in 1941 and they were together until 1948.  She then married Raymond A. Klune in 1960 and the couple stayed together until he passed away in 1988.  She had two children with her second husband, a son Donald and a stepdaughter, Carol.  She never re-married again.  On May 25th, 1999, Brooke passed away in Bonsall, California after suffering a blood clot in her lungs.
