Hermione Gingold ACTOR

Hermione Gingold was born on December 9th, 1897 in Teddington, Middlesex in England with the middle name Ferdinanda.  Her parents were, James Gingold and Kate Walters.  In 1908 she made her first appearance on stage in a production called, "Pinkie and the Fairies" and then earned quite a name for herself in London appearing in such productions as, "The Merchant of Venice" and "Troilus and Cressida".
She continued her career appearing in a variety of musical venues and later relocated to the United States appearing in such Broadway productions as, "Oh Dad, Poor Dad...Mama's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feeling So Sad" (1963) and later in her career in, "A Little Night Music" (1973).
Hermione had proven herself to be a very talented stage actress and Hollywood had also begun to take notice of her.  She move west and began appearing first on stage in a production of, "It's About Time" and in a number of films such as, "Gigi" (1958), "The Music Man" (1962) and "I'd Rather Be Rich" (1964).
Along with her stage and film work she appeared on a number of television shows such as, "Beyond the Fringe", "Love, American Style", "Ironside" and "The Jack Paar Tonight Show".
Hermione Gingold married twice throughout her lifetime, first to Michael Joseph in 1918 and after having two sons together, the marriage came to an end in 1926.  She then chose to marry her second husband Eric Maschwitz in 1926 and this marriage lasted until 1940.
Her autobiography, "How to Grow Old Gracefully" was released the year after she passed away.  She also wrote a play titled, "Abracadabra".  On May 24th, 1987 Hermione passed away in New York City, New York after suffering from cardiac issues as well as pneumonia.  Her remains are interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.
