HENRY BRANDON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Henry Brandon was born on June 8th, 1912 in Berlin, Germany with the birth name Heinrich von Kleinbach. Not to long after he was born, his family moved to the United States and he then began to develop an interest in acting.
He later studied at the Pasadena Playhouse and it did not take long for Hollywood to take notice of his talents. Soon he was appearing in such films as, “Babes in Toyland” (1934) starring Laurel and Hardy, “Black Legion” (1937) starring Humphrey Bogart, Dick Foran, Erin O'Brien-Moore, Ann Sheridan, Joe Sawyer, Addison Richards, Paul Harvey, Dickie Jones, John Litel, Eddie Acuff and Samuel S. Hinds, "Our Gang Follies of 1938" starring with George 'Spanky' McFarland, Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer, Eugene Gordon 'Porky' Lee, Dickie Jones, Darla Hood and Billie 'Buckwheat' Thomas and “Drums of Fu Manchu” (1943) with William Royle, Robert Kellard, Tom Chatterton, Luana Walters and Olaf Hytten.
Along with his work as a film actor he continued to add numerous stage appearances to his credits throughout his career in the industry. Some of his more well known film roles later in his career included roles on the features, “Pony Express” (1953) starring Charlton Heston as Buffalo Bill, Forrest Tucker as Wild Bill Hickok, Jan Sterling as Calamity Jane and Rhonda Fleming, “War Arrow” (1953) starring Jeff Chandler, Maureen O'Hara, Charles Drake, Dennis Weaver, Jim Bannon, John McIntire, Susan Ball, Noah Beery Jr. and Jay Silverheels, "Vera Cruz" (1954) starring Gary Cooper, Burt Lancaster, Denise Darcel, Sara Montiel and Cesar Romero, John Ford's epic western “The Searchers” (1956) as the Comanche War Chief Scar (Cicatrice) and starring alongside, John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter, Natalie Wood, Ward Bond, Hank Worden, John Qualen, Ken Curtis, Vera Miles, Olive Carey, Patrick Wayne, Walter Coy, Harry Carey Jr. and Beulah Archuletta as Look, “Two Rode Together” (1961) as Comance War Chief Quanah Parker also starring James Stewart, Richard Widmark, Shirley Jones, John McIntire, Andy Devine, Linda Cristal, Woody Strode, Willis Bouchey, Ken Curtis, Jeanette Nolan, John Qualen, Anna Lee, Ford Rainey, Harry Carey Jr. and Olive Carey, “Gentle Savage” (1973) starring William Smith, Gene Evans and Joe Flynn, “The Manhandlers” (1975) starring Cara Burgess, Judith M. Along with film he made quite a name for himself as a television actor appearing on such series as, “Suspense”, "The Adventures of Jim Bowie", "The Loretta Young Show", "The Buccaneers", "Wagon Train", "The Bob Cummings Show", "Zane Grey Theatre", “Rocky Jones, Space Ranger”, "Soldiers of Fortune”, “Broken Arrow”, “The Restless Gun”, "Shotgun Slade", "The Lawless Years", "Mister Ed", “Stories of the Century”, “Have Gun - Will Travel”, “The Texan”, "Lights Out", “The Deputy” and “Lock Up” among many others.
Henry Brandon never married or had any of his own children. His final role was in 1989 on the film, “Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II” starring Mel Welles, David Carradine and Lana Clarkson. He passed away on February 15th, 1990 in Los Angeles, California after suffering from a heart attack.
