HARRIS YULIN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Harris Yulin was born on November 5th, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. Prior to settling in on a career as an actor he traveled all over the country and to Europe. It was while living for a time in Tel Aviv, Israel that he first developed an interest in acting and directing. He later enrolled at UCLA and studied acting.
Yulin then began his career as a stage actor first appearing in an off-Broadway production of, "Next Time I'll Sing For You" (1963). Soon he as adding such stage credits to his resume as, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (1964), "Richard III" (1966), "King John" (1967) and "Hamlet" (1974).
Along with his stage experience he also broke into the film and television industry in the 1970's appearing in the films, "End of the Road" (1970), "The Midnight Man" (1974), "Night Moves" (1975), "Scarface" (1983), "Bad Dreams" (1988), "Another Woman" (1988), "Ghostbusters" (1989), "Narrow Margin" (1990), "Clear and Present Danger" (1994) starring Harrison Ford and "Multiplicity" (1996).
In 1980, he made his Broadway debut in, "Watch on the Rhine" and has continued to add many successful plays to his credits such as, "Uncle Vanya" (1981), "Hedda Gabler" (1981), "The Doctor's Dilemma" (1982), "Tartuffe" (1984), "The Seagull" (1985) and "The Visit" (1992).
He won the Drama Desk Award nominations for his roles in the plays, "The Price" (1999) and "The Diary of Anne Frank" (2001). He has always remained living in Los Angeles and was one of the founders of the Los Angeles Classic Theater. He has also worked on the other side of the industry as a stage director for such productions as, "Baba Goys", "This Lime Tree Bower" and "The Trip to Bountiful".
As his career has progressed he has never limited himself to one type of acting or one stereotypical role. More recent film roles include, "Rush Hour 2" (2001), "Training Day" (2001) starring Denzel Washington, "Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus" (2006), "The Place Beyond the Pines" (2012) and "Muhammed Ali's Greatest Fight" (2012).
He has also appeared on such television series as, "24", "Frasier", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Law & Order", "Third Watch" and "Entourage". More recent television roles include, "Damages" (2009), "Rubicon" (2010), "Pan Am" (2011) and "Nikita" (2011-2012).
Harris Yulin has married only once to Gwen Welles and they remained together until she passed away in 1993.
