GEORGE SEGAL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
George Segal was born on February 13th, 1934 in Great Neck, Long Island in New York, born to parents Fannie Blanche and George Segal Sr. After graduating from George School in Pennsylvania he went on to study at Haverford College and then earned his college degree from Columbia University.
His career in entertainment began as a musician as well as a stage actor. He studied drama at HB Studio in Greenwich Village in New York City. He then broke into the film industry in the early 1960's with some of his early screen roles being on such features as, "The Young Doctors" (1961), "The Longest Day" (1962) starring some of the greatest male actors such as John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum, Peter Lawford, Rod Steiger, Richard Burton and Sean Connery, "Channing" (1963), "King Rat" (1965), "Ship of Fools" (1965), "Lost Command" (1966) and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" (1966) starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

In addition to his acting career, he kept up his love of music and is a very accomplished banjo player. Prior to becoming a working actor, Segal performed with a Dizieland Jazz band, later calling themselves, Red Onion Jazz Band. He later performed on, "A Touch of Ragtime" (1985) and on, "Basin Street" (1987).
He has been married three times, first to Marion Sobel whom he wed in 1956 and after having two children this marriage came to an end in 1983.
