FRANK LOVEJOY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Frank Lovejoy  was born on March 28th, 1912 in The Bronx, New York with the birth name Frank Lovejoy Jr. to parents Frank Lovejoy Sr. and mother Nora.  he was raised in New Jersey. As a teenager he was employed on Wall Street, but due to the crash of the great Stock Market in 1929, he lost his job.  He was able to find small jobs working as an actor to support himself.

He began with working on stage in touring companies and then made his Broadway debut in 1934.  He also worked in radio on such programs as, "Gangbusters", "Night Beat" and "Damon Runyon Theater".

After a decent amount of success on Broadway and radio he made his film debut on, "Black Heart" (1948) followed by a number of supporting roles on various films keeping him steadily employed.  The majority of characters he portrayed ranged from soldiers, to street cops and detectives.  Some of his early 1950's work was on, "Breakthrough" (1950), "Goodbye My Fancy" (1951), "Retreat, Hell" (1952) and then in 1953 he received quite a decent role in the film, "The Hitch-Hiker".

Alongside a decent stage, radio and film career he added television credits to his resume starring in his own television shows, "Man Against Crime" (1956) and "The Adventures of McGraw" (1957).

Frank Lovejoy was married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Frances Williams for a brief period followed by his second marriage to an actress, Joan Banks from 1940 through 1962 and together they had two children.  On October 2nd, 1962 in New York City, New York Lovejoy passed away from a heart attack.  He is interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
