FRANK CONVERSE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Frank Converse was born on May 22nd, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri. After earning his early high school degree from Philips Andover Academy in Massachusetts, he earned a Drama BFA degree in 1962 from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh.
He began working as a stage actor and was very prevalent in a number Shakespeare productions such as, "Hamlet", "The Comedy of Errors" and "Much Ado About Nothing" among others.
After gaining some off-Broadway experience he soon had his Broadway debut in a production of, "First One Asleep, Whistle" (1966), sadly the production closed after only one day.
He then turned his career goals towards film and television, however, it was television that really got his acting career off the ground. He did appear on the big screen in such films as, "Hour of the Gun" (1967) starring James Garner and Jason Robards and "Hurry Sundown" (1967), but it was his roles on a number of television series that took him to a whole new level of stardom.
Early on in his career he was seen on such series as, "The Trials of O'Brien" (1966), "Hawk" (1966), "Coronet Blue" (1967) and "N.Y.P.D." (1967-1969) for which he appeared in a total of forty nine episodes portraying Deputy Johnny Corso and then "Movin' On" (1974-1976) starring alongside Claude Akins.
As his career progressed he also appeared on the television series, "The Mod Squad" (1970) and a number of television movies such as, "Dr. Cook's Garden" (1971), "Great Performances: The Widowing of Mrs. Holroyd" (1974), "Killer on Board" (1977) and "Cruise Into Terror" (1978) along with a variety of others.
Along with his work on television he did not neglect his love of live performing in the theater and appeared in such stage productions later in his career such as, "The House of Blue Leaves" (1971), "Seagull" (1973), "Hobson's Choice" (1977), "The Philadelphia Story" (1980), "Brothers" (1983), "Design for Living" (1984), "A Streetcar Named Desire" (1988) and the musical, "South Pacific".
Some of the television roles he added to his resume later in his career were roles on, "As the World Turns", "All My Children", "One Life to Live", "The Family Tree", "Dolphin Cove", "Murder, She Wrote", "The Practice", "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and his latest role was from 1991-2008 again as a regular on, "Law & Order".
Frank Converse has married three times. His first marriage was very brief and he then married Carol Tawser and after having two children this marriage came to an end. His third wife is Maureen Anderman whom he wed in 1982 and together they also have two children and remain married today.
