FIONNULA FLANAGAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Fionnula Flanagan was born on December 10th, 1941 in Dublin, Ireland with the birth name Fionnghuala Flanagan, born to parents, Rosanna and Terence Niall Flanagan. She had four siblings and they all were raised to speak both English and Gaelic.
She received her early years education in Dublin and in Switzerland and studied acting at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. She first began her involvement in acting as a stage actress. Some of her early stage roles were in such productions as, "An Triail" followed by a role in the Irish film, "Ulysses" (1967).
In 1968 she relocated to Los Angeles, California and soon made her Broadway debut in the play, "Lovers" and in 1972 she married her only husband, Garrett O'Connor. Other film roles soon followed such as, "The Picture of Dorian Gray" (1973), "In the Region of Ice" (1976), the pilot for "How the West Was Won" titled simply "The Macahans" (1978) starring James Arness, "Mr. Patman" (1980), "Scorned and Swindled" (1984), "Youngblood" (1986) and "A State of Emergency" (1986).
Along with earning herself a decent amount of popularity as a stage and film actress, she also appeared on a number of television series such as, "Gunsmoke" (1972), "Murder, She Wrote" (1987), "Star Trek: Enterprise" (2002) and some of her latest television appearances have been in, "Nip/Tuck" (2004), "Brotherhood" (2006-2008) and "Lost" (2007-2010).
Fionnula also continues to work in the industry with some her more recent film roles being on, "Sexual Life" (2005), "Yes Man" (2008), "Kill the Irishman" (2010) and "Coming & Going" (2011).
Flanagan remains living in Los Angeles with her husband who is a practicing psychiatrist and they also own a home in Dublin.
