EUGENE PALLETTE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
 
Eugene Pallette was born on July 8th, 1889 in Winfield, Kansas, born to William Baird Pallette and Elnora 'Ella' Jackson.  He received his early years education from Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana and then began to develop an interest in acting.
 
For a time, Pallette performed as a stage actor in various stock companies before breaking into the film industry in 1911 with a number of extra roles on silent films.  Soon he began receiving credited roles appearing in such shorts as, "The Fugitive", "When the Light Fades", "The Transgression of Manuel" and "Brother Love" (all 1913).

Some of his more well known film roles included, D.W. Griffith's "The Birth of a Nation" (1915) starring Lillian Gish, Mae Marsh, Ralph Lewis, Miriam Cooper, Monte Blue, Donald Crisp and Henry B. Walthall and "Intolerance" (1916) starring Lillian Gish, Mae Marsh, Ralph Lewis, Elmo Lincoln, Erich von Stroheim, Constance Talmadge, Douglas Fairbanks, Miriam Cooper and Lloyd Ingraham, "Terror Island" (1920) starring Harry Houdini, Jack Brammall, Lila Lee and Wilton Taylor, "To the Last Man" (1923) starring Richard Dix, Lois Wilson, Noah Beery Sr., Robert Edeson and Tom London, "The Kennel Murder Case" (1933) with William Powell and Mary Astor, "My Man Godfrey" (1936) starring  William Powell and Carole Lombard, Alan Mowbray, Mischa Auer, Grady Sutton, Alice Brady, Gail Patrick, Jean Dixon and Pat Flaherty, "Stowaway" (1936) with Shirley Temple, Alice Faye, Philip Ahn, Allan 'Rocky' Lane,  and Robert Young, "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) starring alongside Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Basil Rathbone, Melville Cooper, Montague Love, Una O'Connor, Ian Hunter, Patric Knowles, Robert Warwick Alan Hale Sr. and Claude Rains, Frank Capra's "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" (1939) starring James Stewart, Jean Arthur, Claude Rains, Edward Arnold, Guy Kibbee, Thomas Mitchell, Porter Hall, Grant Mitchell, Lafe McKee, William Demarest, H. Over the course of his career in the industry he would appear in more than two hundred roles between 1913 and 1946.  After 1946, he became so enthralled with the idea that the 'world was going to blow up' due to atom bombs that he left his career in Hollywood and relocated to Oregon where he built a mountain fortress to try and protect himself.  

Eugene Pallette was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to the Motion Picture Industry.  

He later returned to Hollywood, realizing no 'world' disaster was going to occur.  Pallette married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Phyllis Gordon however this marriage was short lived and when it came to an end he then married Marjorie Cagnacci in 1932 and they remained together until he passed away on September 3rd, 1954 in Los Angeles, California after suffering from cancer.  His remains were cremated and interred at Green Lawn Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas.
