ERIC BANA BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Eric Bana was born on August 9th, 1968 in Melbourne, Australia with the birth name Eric Banadinovich, born to parents Ivan and Eleanor Banadinovich. He was raised in Melbourne and after school he relocated to Sidney Australia and decided he wanted to pursue a career as an actor.
He first began his career in entertainment when he found work as a stand up comedian. Soon he was getting cast on television in a number of small roles such as, "Tonight Live with Steve Vizard" (1990) and "Full Frontal" (1993) where he gained a decent size fan base for his impressions of actors such as Tom Cruise and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Bana then decided to start his own show titled, "Eric" (1997) which soon became, "The Eric Bana Show Live" (1997). It did not take long for him to break into the film industry with his film debut on, "The Castle" (1997). When he took on the role of, 'Chopper Read' an Australian criminal for the film, "Chopper" he prepared himself with great dedication for the role. He gained thirty pounds, shaved his head and even spent time in prison studying the life of a criminal. For all his hard work and dedication to the character, he earned three Australian Film Institute Awards.
As his career progressed other film roles followed such as, "Black Hawk Down" (2001), "The Nugget" (2002), "Hulk" (2003), "Troy" (2004) and "Munich" (2005). In 2006, he was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Some of his latest film appearances have been in, "Romulus, My Father" (2007), "The Other Boleyn Girl" (2008), "Star Trek" (2009), "The Time Traveler's Wife" (2009), "Funny People" (2009) and soon, "Elvis & Nixon" and "By Virtue Fall" both scheduled for a 2013 release.
Along with becoming a successful actor, he is also involved in a number of charitable causes such as being an ambassador for a charity for homeless young people called, Father Chris Riley. He is also active in a number of campaigns with the Australian Childhood Foundation and the Bone Marrow Donor Institute.
Although he is a well known actor and does do some work in the United States, he remains living in Melbourne, Australia with his wife, Rebecca Gleeson whom he married in 1997 and they have two children, Klaus and Sophia.
