EMORY PARNELL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
 
Emory Parnell was born on December 29th, 1892 in St. Paul, Minnesota and became known as, 'The Big Swede'.  His career in entertainment first became as a concert violinist and he later began to also perform as a vaudeville performer.  

In the 1930's, he began finding work as an actor in Detroit and appeared in such films as, "Call of the Yukon" (1938) starring Richard Arlen, Lyle Talbot, Al 'Fuzzy' St. John and Beverly Roberts, "Dr. Rhythm" (1938) starring alongside Bing Crosby, Mary Carlisle and Andy Devine and "I Am the Law" (1938) starring Edward G. Robinson, Louis Jean Heydt, Barbara O'Neil and Wendy Barrie, all un-credited roles. 

However, as he began to gain more experience in the industry, he would add over three hundred credits to his resume.  Many of his film roles were in 'B' rated films, however some of his more well known appearances included, "Arabian Nights" (1942) starring Sabu Dastagir, Maria Montez, Jon Hall, Turhan Bey, Shemp Howard, Billy Gilbert, Thomas Gomez, John Qualen and Leif Erickson, "Casanova Brown" (1944) starring Gary Cooper, Teresa Wright, Halliwell Hobbes, Anita Louise, Irving Bacon and Frank Morgan, "Mama Loves Papa" (1945) starring Leon Errol, Elisabeth Risdon, Lawrence Tierney, Jason Robards Sr. and Edwin Maxwell, "Colonel Effingham's Raid" (1946) starring Charles Coburn, Joan Bennett, William Eythe, Allyn Joslyn, Thurston Hall, Cora Witherspoon, Roy Roberts and Elizabeth Patterson, "Violence" (1947) starring Nancy Coleman, Michael O'Shea and Sheldon Leonard, "Here Comes Trouble" (1948) with William Tracy, Joe Sawyer, Joan Woodbury, Betty Compson and Beverly Loyd, "The Babe Ruth Story" (1948) starring William Bendix, Claire Trevor, Pat Flaherty, William Frawley and Charles Bickford, "Strike it Rich" (1948) starring Rod Cameron and Bonita Granville and "Unmasked" (1950) starring with Robert Rockwell, Barbara Fuller, Raymond Burr, Hillary Brooke and Paul Harveyand "Lost in Alaska" (1952) starring Abbott and Costello with Tom Ewell, Mitzi Green, Bruce Cabot and Iron Eyes Cody.

Along with working in films, beginning in the 1950's he also began to add a number of television series credits to his resume such as, "Maverick", "The Life of Riley", "Front Page Detective", "The Stu Erwin Show", "Boston Blackie", "My Hero", "The Lone Ranger", "I Love Lucy", "Racket Squad", "Beulah", "The Abbott and Costello Show", "Lassie", "Sugarfoot", "Mister Ed", "Bat Masterson", "Sheriff of Cochise", "My Little Margie", "Where's Raymond?", "Ramar of the Jungle", "Dennis the Menace", "The Public Defender" and "The Red Skelton Hour".
 
His final acting roles were on the television series, "Petticoat Junction", "Gunsmoke" and "Medical Center" with his final film appearance in 1972 on, "Hot Summer Week" with Kathleen Cody, Michael Ontkean and Diane Hull.

Emory Parnell married only once to Effie Laird and they had two children together.  He passed away at the age of eighty six on June 22nd, 1979 in Woodland Hills, California after suffering from a heart attack.
