ELAINE STEWART BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Elaine Stewart was born on May 31st, 1930 in Montclair, New Jersey with the birth name Elsy Steinberg, born to Ulrich and Hedwig Marie Steinburg. Her first job was working as an usher a d cashier at the local movie theater. She alter found work as a medical assistant and then began to get involved with modeling in her teenage years, being represented by Conover Model Agency. She began to earn a couple beauty awards which soon caught the eyes of Hollywood, such as her title, Miss See in 1952 for a layout in, See Magazine.
She began working in the film industry with her first role being offered to her by Hal B. Wallis in a small role on the film, "Sailor Beware" (1952). Soon MGM signed her to a contract and she began adding such film credits to her resume as, "Singin' in the Rain" (1952) starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor, "You For Me" (1952), "Everything I Have is Yours" (1952), "Sky Full of Moon" (1952) and "The Bad and the Beautiful" (1952).
Now with quite a bit of experience on her resume more prominent film roles began to come her way such as, "Code Two" (1953), "Young Bess" (1953), "Take the High Ground!" (1953), "The Adventures of Hajji Baba" (1954), "Brigadoon" (1954) starring Gene Kelly, Van Johnson and Cyd Charisse, "Night Passage" (1957) starring James Stewart, Audie Murphy and Dan Duryea, "The Tattered Dress" (1957) and "Escort West" (1958).
Elaine was then featured in an issue of Playboy Magazine and also added such television credits as, "Burke's Law" starring Gene Barry and "Perry Mason" starring Raymond Burr. In the early 70's she was also chosen to co-host the Heatter-Quigley game show, "Las Vegas Gambit" (1972).
For the most part, she then retired from acting to focus on raising her family. She also dedicated her spare time to such charities as the Jewish Relief Fund, The American Diabetes Association and the Muscular Distrophy Association.
Elaine Stewart married twice during her lifetime, first to, Bill Carter in 1961 however by 1963, this marriage ended in divorce. She then wed television game show producer, Merrill Heatter in 1964 and they had two children and remained together until she passed away at the age of eighty one in Beverly Hills, California on June 27th, 2011 after suffering from a longtime illness she was unable to overcome.
