E.G. MARSHALL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
E.G. Marshall was born on June 18th, 1914 in Owatonna, Minnesota with the birth name Everett Eugene Grunz, born to parents, Hazel Irene and Charles G. Grunz. After high school he enrolled in Carleton College and then went on to study at the University of Minnesota.
His career in acting first began as a stage actor and soon he was appearing in such Broadway productions as, "The Skin of Our Teeth", "The Iceman Cometh", "The Crucible" and "Waiting for Godot".
Marshall's career included over one hundred and fifty film and television appearances. Some of his more prominent and well remembered roles were on the television series, "The Defenders", "The Bold Ones: The New Doctors" and for films, he is most notably known for, "13 Rue Madeleine" (1947) starring James Cagney, "12 Angry Men" (1957) with an all-star cast consisting of Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb, Ed Begley, Martin Balsam, Jack Klugman and Jack Warden just to name a few, "Creepshow" (1982), "Christmas Vacation" (1989) and "Nixon" (1995).
Other roles added to his resume were on such television movies as, "Collision Course: Truman vs. MacArthur" (1976), "Ike" (1986), "Lincoln" (1992) and "Eleanor, First Lady of the World" (1982),
Marshall was married three times throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Helen Wolf whom he wed in 1939 and later divorced in 1953. He then married Emy de haze Winkelman briefly before moving on to his third marriage to Judith Coy whom he remained married to until he passed away on August 24th, 1998 in Bedford, New York after suffering from lung cancer. He left behind seven children total and is buried at Patent Rural Cemetery in North Castle, New York.
