ED HARRIS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
 
Ed Harris was born on November 28th, 1950 in Tenafly, New Jersey with the birth name Edward Allen Harris, born to Margaret and Robert L. Harris.  He was the middle child of three boys in the family and after graduating from Tenafly High School, Harris went on to study at Columbia University in New York.  He played football for the college team, but while living in New York he had a change of heart and left Columbia University, moved to Oklahoma with his family and enrolled at the University of Oklahoma's Theater program.  After Harris earned a degree in Theatre, he decided to relocate to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of a career in the industry and also continued his education at the California Institute of Arts.
 
Harris began like many actors, working as a stage actor and on occasion he made a couple small television appearances.  Soon he began working on such films as, "Borderline" (1980), "Knightriders" (1981), "The Right Stuff" (1983) and starred alongside Jessica Lange in "Sweet Dreams" (1985) about the life of famed country music singer Patsy Cline.
 
As his career progressed, he became known for roles in such films as, "Appaloosa", "The Rock", "The Abyss", "A Beautiful Mind" and "The Truman Show" and "Apollo 13" for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. 

Harris also worked on commercials being the narrator for such high profile companies as Home Depot.  
 
Along with film roles, Harris also still enjoyed performing on the stage and appeared in such productions as, "Wrecks" and "Fool For Love" which earned him an Obie for Outstanding Actor and  he has also been involved in directing a number of stage productions.  
 
Not only is Harris a talented actor, he also has experience on other sides of the industry such as a writer and director.  He made his directing film debut with, "Pollock" (2000) and also starred in the film where he received a Best Actor nomination.  
 
Some of his latest appearances have been in, "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" (2007), "What's Wrong with Virginia" (2010), "Salvation Boulevard" (2010), "Game Change" (2011) and soon to release in 2012, "Phantom" and "The Geography of Hope".
 
Harris has been married one time to Amy Madigan on November 21st, 1983 and they have one daughter, Lilly Dolores, and remain married today.
